Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
it's downloading now
anyone listened to it? thoughts?
a decent boxing pod cast is hard to find I think. I listen to ESPN heavy hitting pod cast, I used to listen to British boxing pod cast but that's been it.
i tried listening to on the ropes but it's too long to fit in my journey to and from work and I forget what they were talking about when i get back to it 8 hours later. the boxing clever pod cast had bright moments but seems to end up in the 2 hosts disagreeing allot with 1 saying he's knowledge of boxing isn't very deep.

Have you thought about setting off earlier and driving slower?Adamj1987 wrote:i tried listening to on the ropes but it's too long to fit in my journey to and from work and I forget what they were talking about when i get back to it 8 hours later.
Re: Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
last episode 181 is 95 min long to get to work and back is 45 min at most so i'd have to go very slowJLP wrote:Have you thought about setting off earlier and driving slower?Adamj1987 wrote:i tried listening to on the ropes but it's too long to fit in my journey to and from work and I forget what they were talking about when i get back to it 8 hours later.

You could move further away or consider walking to work. There's always a solution.Adamj1987 wrote:last episode 181 is 95 min long to get to work and back is 45 min at most so i'd have to go very slowJLP wrote:Have you thought about setting off earlier and driving slower?Adamj1987 wrote:i tried listening to on the ropes but it's too long to fit in my journey to and from work and I forget what they were talking about when i get back to it 8 hours later.
Re: Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
yes not listening is my solution
Re: Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
listening to podcast 1 seems abit unordered but the are saying good things, good debate going on i'll stick with it for a few episodes to see if it improves
Re: Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
Downloaded it last night after seeing this thread and was really looking forward to it, but the sound quality is so appalling I ended up having to abandon it. They really need to sort the production values out if they want to build a following.
Re: Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
Ive listened to first 5 i agree they changed the name on episode 6 so im hoping the sound quality improvesDeserter wrote:Downloaded it last night after seeing this thread and was really looking forward to it, but the sound quality is so appalling I ended up having to abandon it. Bunces BBC London boxing hour is a great listen. I honestly think Steve is best placed on Radio, somehow it just works really well. For me it doesn't carry over to TV though. Mike Costello's interviews are always brilliant, the one he did with Froch recently was really good. The man is a pro.
Re: Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
I agree with dbf. I think Bunce is absolutely terrific on the radio and in print but I've never liked his television stuff.
Re: Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
I'll try and give bunce another go. I like his written peices but i always end up get fustrated with him. It's not a knock on him as i said his written peices are great i think its just my preferences.
I like the espn one because keiran mulvaney seems to have similar opinions to me in terms of boxing

Re: Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
what is BN podcast? Boxing News? is this still going? hardly any british boxing podcasts out there. sky's toe to toe is very good. 606v2 had a couple out, but not very consistent in timing, and there was anew one by someone called wingy which is decent. bunce tweated something about a pod of his being back on espn which could be decent. i know america is a lot bigger, but a lot more american podcasts in comparison.

He certainly has a face for the radiodbf wrote:Bunces BBC London boxing hour is a great listen. I honestly think Steve is best placed on Radio, somehow it just works really well. Re: Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
Thanks, didn't know about toe to toe so will check it out. Agree there's a real dearth of decent stuff - would be good to see Ian and the Boxrec News team step into this void...Paullow wrote:what is BN podcast? This.
Until they sort out the audio issues, I'm not listening - or hearing to put it literally.
Re: Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
A studio is going to be built very soon...
Re: Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
Wingy (ukwingchunstudent) has started a decent podcast as someone said earlier. Has promise
http://thewingypodcast.tumblr.com/
Definite lack of boxing podcasts out there

Re: Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
good as the sound quality is letting it down as the banter and knowledge is there and expressed well if you can listen to itdbflex wrote:A studio is going to be built very soon...
Re: Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
Yeah this one is quite good, but to be fair any pod with fans discussing boxing is fine with meTheWigwam wrote:Wingy (ukwingchunstudent) has started a decent podcast as someone said earlier. Has promise

In America there is:
Leave it in the ring
Tha Boxing Voice
On the Grind
Rope-a-dope
ringside boxing show
heavy hitting
max boxing
just off the top of my head - over here we have an occasional 606v2 one, wingy (every 2 weeks), sky toe to toe, and bunce has returned on espn, but not many at all
spam.com's the nuthouse is kind of an inbetween one (has british panelists), but is now more american focussed as well
Re: Anyone listen to the BN podcast?
Aye, Will Hale used to do it for BBN - my involvement was saying 'Aye, go for it, Will, nice one mate' and then answering questions on the phone. As anyone who knows me will testify, this is the limit of my technological capabilities.Deserter wrote:Thanks, didn't know about toe to toe so will check it out. Will is too busy now (teaching). We've had a couple of likely lads come along and say they'll do it but, as any editor of a boxing website will know, very few come through with what they say.
Danny Wright has the capabilities to sort one but the one thing he doesn't have, like most of us grown ups these days, is time...but thanks for the vote of confidence mate
