Bunce on mike dallas jnr

Post by Bricks »

I finally got round to subscribing to allegedly.
Saw Bunce's boxing hour yesterday. lol the man never learns. even when he is trying to be sincere his insincere nature comes out.

He made some comment about "dallas jnrs dad is dead so (virgil) are u happy he is over that".....he may have meant no harm but the phrasing was crass and obnoxious as is the ridiculous semi retarded turn of voice he seems to put on regularly these days which he didnt in the setanta days, where basically.....he speaks in a very thick slow manner almost like he is drunk in a pub and having problems speaking.....i cant put it any better than that....what a tool!!!

Did you see him and Lillis on the evening of Donaire/Arce?

It was awful. Just sub pub "banter" and comments that if anyone else made about racial groups in the UK on a TV station that more than 20 people watched, they would have have a ton of complaints. Execrable, just woeful.

Bunce was really good on the radio and he's also superb in print. For some reason, when he gets a camera shoved in his face, it ruins his output (for me).

I'm not a huge fan of his BM piece, never have been but I really enjoyed the work he did with Watson's book and I've always enjoyed his newspaper work. Which is why I have more of a problem with his TV antics. I just can't reconcile the two.

Granted I might come out with some crap at 4am talking to myself in an empty studio but I think I'd at least internalise a lot of it first.

This comes up every few months, I'm sorry but I'm just not getting it, I've never once had my mouth wide open and thought "I can't believe he just said that" maybe everyone is just looking for it !

Maybe you're the target audience? I don't gasp at what he says, I just think he sounds like a bit of a knob and don't get anything from it. Whereas when I'm reading stuff he's written, I generally feel like I've benefited from the experience.

The guy know his stuff and has some personality about him - you can't expect to like everything he says and you can't expect the banter to be top drawer all the time. Give the guy a break.

He does indeed know his boxing, I'll never dispute that. I like Bunce, respect his knowledge and wish him every success in a tough business. I just don't enjoy watching him on telly. Personal preference.

Your missing the point which is....during the itv2 boxing monthly days when he was 100% straight on the ball none of this humour he was by far and away the best most concise listenable boxing pundit on TV...hands down.....during the bbc days he stayed that way.....during the setanta days he become more pseudo flamboyant and out there (see the kellerman comment) but he was always sort of still no 1...until the last 6 months or so on setanta when he suddenly went into overdrive with the fat man in an exploding suit always shouting in an exasperated manner type antics....than he got fired...and when he cameback with more work than ever on espn, onside, and allegedly he has been an obnoxious loudmouth and the act grates plus he went all hollywood on the internet boys who he cynically used on the infamous "bring back bunce" campaign.
I agree print has been his best forte and remains something he excels at. Its actually very hard to write one of those column type pieces he does in boxing monthly.Reg Gutteridge was a master of it and bunce is the best around today in that area.

For all the stuff he knows, he also pretends he knows more, at least about the international scene, him and Lillis saying that Narvaez men should have taken him out of Argentina prior to the Donaire bout had me face palming.
