Chris Keane Best British Cruiserweight since David Haye ?

Just watched the fight, and he looked like he has promise, but the bigger thing it reminded me of is how dreadful McPhilbin is. His attempts to put pressure on in the 3rd were like watching an elephant on its hind legs. Has nobody ever taught him how to punch? McPhilbin - Williams was the worst British title fight I've ever suffered through.

My view of Keane is that he's not quick enough to beat JLD. Hard to say whether he can apply enough pressure to have a chance of knocking him out, but I think he's gonna get outscored in that fight.

You say Mcphilbin was terrible etc , and while i cant disagree with you it got me thinking about the fact that in the amateurs to my knowledge he beat Keane , possibly an ABA semi final ???? i know he lost in the aba's to Tyson Fury .

Hes obviously got some boxing ability as you dont do well in the top amateur tournaments if you cant box , but something happened to him that has made him not do too well in his last couple of fights , is it his lifestyle he leads ? is it that he just doesnt want it ?

Mcphilbin just looks like he does everything wrong&im on about the basics,which you are first taught when boxing...I think he will slip into the Journeyman mode now&not win often at all..But whatever i think,you cant EVER take away the fact that he won the British title...

As long as the guys face each other at some point, we've had it in the past where its a good domestic division but the boxers take different routes and we never really find out who was the best between them. The light middles a few years ago spring to mind.

Stephen and i never moaned about fighting in your hometown with english referees or judges yet YOUR team did,so your being a little misleading shall we say that your team were willing to fight anyone anywhere.
Mate im not saying Chris isnt a decent fighter he is but imo hes certainly not the best cruiser in the UK.

What Stephen can do is punch very correctly and plenty hard enough,all of a sudden Christ is a puncher I dont think so mate!
Simmons will beat Chris with ease its all about levels and Stephen is levels above Chris,so get some cash out when if it happens, I will match what you earn for the fight no problem but being a nice guy I will buy you a beer afterwards

Chris is an improved fighter, Sparring will be the deciding factor for him, you gotta mix with people who take you out your comfort zone and push you to new limits.. You don't wanna be taken to them places in fights and you've not experienced it in the gym..

I think this is a good division domestically I really do! Price,JLD,Askin,Chris,Simmons!! All good fighters..

Hahaha Chris is not all of a sudden a puncher Billy, he's always been a puncher he's only the 2nd person in the ABA's to knock out all his opponents at heavyweight mate and nearly all in the nations aswell. He only had 24 amateur fights and he knocked out 20 of them, now even you have to admit that's good going Billy. Stephen struggled with Taher Memhed pal, Chris had him reeling and let him off because we had told him to get some rounds in, same has Hastings Rasani. So He's not all of a sudden a puncher mate by any means

And yes either way of the out come I'd like a drink with you anyway pal, I like your banter and respect you has a trainer (but Chris will win KO)

We've tried getting him the best sparring has we can when we can, has you say thats where he's gonna learn and need to learn and make his mistakes and correct them. We've been quite lucky to date with i.e Enzo Macranelli, Micheal Sprott, yourself a couple times Tony, Juno Hoopja(he just took Masternak the distance for EBU Cruiser title), Dereck Chisora, Ian Lewison, the list is endless really in the UK plus we've had interest and offers from Nathan Cleverly & just the other day Jonathan Banks, so in that department it's been has good has can be really, the next step is going over to Europe to spar with the likes of Branco, Fraggomenni, Afolabi, Mormeck, Huck, Adamek, that's our next aim with some big names and experienced Cruiserweight's.
it's great for boxing that another division in Britain is hotting up.
