Larry Holmes versus the WBA champs ?
Re: Larry Holmes versus the WBA champs ?
I'll admit, though, Page didn't really advance his skillset that much, and he wasn't the strongest guy, so it could turn on him.

I just don't see what he does to give Larry trouble. It was either jab with him or put on a ton of pressure and Greg couldn't do either. Page was poor defensively, Holmes would jab his face off.

I'm a Page man too, but I'm very happy that you posted this comment before I did. I do agree with you though.Nile4000 wrote:SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Agreed, and Page isn't going to hurt Holmes with anything. It would be competitive for a bit until Greg started to gas about halfway through, then jabs and right hands over and over. 11-4ish decision assuming Page is at his absolute best.
If it's 1983, and Page is in shape, and motivated, he wins in an upset.

Greg's defense was pretty good when he was on point, but if his weight is in the right range, and he's motivated, watch out! And here's another thing: Greg had that quick, chopping right. If Larry gets caught, he's in trouble, and with Greg's speed, Larry might get beat, possibly stopped.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I just don't see what he does to give Larry trouble. I think Larry's resilience was quite proven past Page's level of killer instinct. The man got owned by George Chaplin.

Don't waste your time Saad. Greg Page is going to get unconditional love from us fanboys, regardless of his many failings.

Nah, he definitively lost both of those fights. You're the only human being I've encountered that thinks otherwise. In this scenario we'll just have to agree that you're wrong.Nile4000 wrote:He edged him barely, but we'll agree to disagreeSaadOffTheDeck wrote:I think Larry's resilience was quite proven past Page's level of killer instinct.
