I have seen so many of these lists now that I have become desensitized. The list maker is either ready with 'prime v prime', 'physical supriority of modern heavyweights/modern training methods' arguments or else its just done to spark debate. My head starts to spin now when I read the thread title.
Still, Holmes' exclusion is glaring. This shit will never get old.

1. Muhammed Ali
2. Lennox Lewis
3. George Foreman
4. Mike Tyson
5. Joe Louis
6. Evander Holyfield
7. Wladimir Klitschko
8. Rocky Marciano
9. Joe Frazier
10. Vitali Klitschko

Horrible list in my opinion, no Larry Holmes is a travesty.
My top five....

#1- Joe Louis
#2- Muhammad Ali
#3- Larry Holmes
#4- Rocky Marciano
#5- Jack Dempsey

Sad thing though is in my estimation Holmes could have beaten the other four :TU:

I got no problem with that list :TU: . Jack Johnson was certainly a great in his time, I'm always curious with those super old timers and the tendency to punch and grab constantly. How they'd do against the Modern style of boxers. I doubt they'd do very well at all.

5 Frazier

9 Tyson
10 Marciano

Best I can do in 20 mins with a awkward phone. Not sure about Tyson/Marciano order.
Maybe Dempsey and Jeffries get those last 2 slots. Need more time.

I'm glad Larry is getting his recognition by members here. Underrated big time.

Most boxing 'media' on the Internet has been taken over by pimple-faced know-nothings who couldn't tell Eddie Machen from Eddie Murphy . . .

this is always my favorite topic.
the argument of top 10 heavy weights is the 3rd most argued topic
behind religion and politics
its the subject that starts so many hard feelings

lets see the blood fly :yay:

It's hard to do, I mean I have real trouble seeing some of the smaller old time guys like Louis, Marciano and dempsey beating the klitchkos. But at the same time I feel those guys should all be higher than K2

Ali
Holmes
Lewis
Forman
Louis
Holyfield
Marciano
Dempsey
Liston
Tyson

Or something like that

That's how Hopkins fights... Obviously they'd have to change their style a little if they were fighting in modern day rules etc... Works the other way round too.

my top 5

holmes
ali
louis
lewis
foreman

the rest of my list changes depending on my mood
johnson,liston,holyfield,dempsey,tunney,tyson,marciano

in any order with one always left out

there are 15-20 guys with legitimate arguments to be in the top 10
and depending if you are going by historical significance or head to head competition
they all have an argument

This debate will continue forever but here is my contribution:

Ali
Louis
Holmes
Foreman
Lewis
Vitali
Holyfield
Tyson
Johnson
Jefferies

I won't include Marciano or Dempsey because by today's standard's they are on the small side of cruiserweight......Frazier and Liston are just on the outside of the list.

I can't say that either of the Klitschko brothers have the portfolio to enter in to any top 10 Heavyweight conversation regardless of how you measure it.

Maybe Vitali could have squeezed in had he not retired for years...

And Wladimir is not getting in because he has fought an exceptionally pooer standard of opposition...
