Soliman wins a UD in a close fight. Buffer initially said that Sturm won, and had to correct himself about 5 seconds later.

Sturm dropped Soliman in the second and did well early on, but slowed as the bout progressed while Soliman maintained a high workrate. I had Soliman winning 5 of the last 6 rounds.

LOL so happy Soliman now gets to fight Geale!!!. Plus i won $42 bucks (put $10 bucks on Sam to win :) ).

I expected a draw as Sturm got the knock down and the fight being in Germany, But Soliman did enough to get it - Still cant believe how many punches he can throw at his age for 12 rounds.

What a legend. A true warrior if there ever was one. I hope Geale gives him a shot as he deserves the chance

He has to give him a shot. This fight was the final eliminator for no 1 contender.

Geale can not knock back this fight with Soliman, He either drops his title belt or pays Soliman step-a-side money.

All of a sudden the "current scene" brigade are calling the former World Champion a "bum". Sturm deserves better than that.

I haven't seen anyone call him a bum. Some people have said that he's past his prime, which is probably true.

Good win for Sammy, he looked in magnificent shape the day he left and spent time in England sparring, acclimatizing and training. Knew this was a very winnable fight for him and look forward to another all Aussie world title fight.

Mate I was, really impressed with sams accuracy. His work rate will always be excellent but he seemed to be landing more, heavy punches. acy

From what I read on the RBR's it kind of sounds like Sam was a little lucky to come home with the win. Any truth to this?

I thought it was very close and could've fairly gone either way by a narrow margin, so given that the bout was in Germany and promoted by Sturm one might consider Sam lucky to have received the decision, and to have won by what in most people's opinion was an excessively wide margin on one card.

I'm not sure luck was needed for him to win though, as Sturm hasn't received breaks from the judges since fighting Macklin; he was unlucky to earn only a draw against Murray, and the Geale fight was close enough for hometown judging to swing the verdict his way, which it didn't

If you watch the fight you will notice Sturm only throws maybe 10 punches and lands maybe 1 or 2 per round where as Soliman was just throwing punches in bunches and hitting Sturm at will, There were not clear shots but Soliman looked busier.

Sam was, as always, the much busier. But this time around he was the much more accurate. His corner was giving excellent advice and his combinations were frustrating and at time hurting Sturm. You could see Sturms frustration as the fight went on. I had it 114-113 to Soliman. That included a 10-8 round to sturm and a couple of rounds which could have gone either way which I gave to Sturm (trying to remain unbias). There was also a 10-10 round. I dont think Sam was lucky, but either fighter would have seen themselves as unlucky to lose. Sam did land clean shots, even if they didnt rock Sturm constantly, they were clean head and body shots earning him a thoroughly deserved win.
