Trinidad versus Mosley @ 147
Who would have won ?
Re: Trinidad versus Mosley @ 147
Mosley W12
Re: Trinidad versus Mosley @ 147
I agree. At 154 I like Tito.
Re: Trinidad versus Mosley @ 147
He definitely handled himself better at 154 than Mosley did, Mosley would still be a tough match for him stylistically though.
Re: Trinidad versus Mosley @ 147
The Mosley who beat De La Hoya in their meeting at 147 was a monster. This would be a helluva a fight though; a real barnburner. I see this being fought near the center of the ring with both fighters landing plenty of hard shots. I can see Mosley landing lots of fast lead power shots and buckling Tito on a few occasions. I can see him using right hooks/overhand rights inside of Trinidad`s left hook. He could conceivably stop Tito late. Mosley has one helluva a chin and I think he withstands Tito`s answers, with maybe a few shaky instances. Mosley also did well against bangers. Mosley W12 or Mosley TKO10. Fun one to think about.
Re: Trinidad versus Mosley @ 147
I respectfully dissent. I never saw Tito lose a slugfest. Hopkins and Wright were much more adept at staying in a boxing mode than was Mosley, who was more offensive-minded and thus got hit more. I think Tito would land on him and hurt him badly like Forrest did. Mosley's toughness carries him the distance, but he loses a decision in a war.

Re: Trinidad versus Mosley @ 147
Good analysis. My initial gut reaction was that Mosley would win a decision because of speed and boxing ability. de la Hoya, Jones, Wright all used clever boxing to beat Tito. (OK, OK, Oscar didn't technically win that fight but you'll never convince me---8-4 DLH) IF Mosley stuck to boxing, he'd probably mirror the performance of thiose 3, but he was a slugger at heart and it would prove to be his downfall. His father Jack called it Shane's style "power-boxing" and while it was effective against most, it might be disasterous against Tito.Rover wrote:I respectfully dissent. Mosley barely makes it the distance and loses a unanimous decision.

I think using the Hopkins, Wright (and especially) Jones fights isn't helpful because they occurred at least two divisions up--where Shane hasn't even fought.SenorPipino wrote:Good analysis. I think it's a stylistic blueprint for how to beat Trinidad, regardless of what weight division it occured in.Rover wrote:I think using the Hopkins, Wright (and especially) Jones fights isn't helpful because they occurred at least two divisions up--where Shane hasn't even fought.SenorPipino wrote:Good analysis. Re: Trinidad versus Mosley @ 147
I think Tito/Wright at jr. middle in, say, 2000 would've played out quite differently. Tito's light heavy bout is just meaningless to me; he hadn't won a fight in over three years, was coming off a loss, and never did anything at light heavy anyway.

Re: Trinidad versus Mosley @ 147
You can call me bias but I don't see Mosley winning this fight at all. First, Mosley did never had the foot movement that DLH or Hopkins. Mosley always plants his feet to trow combinations and that would have been his demise. He knew it and his handlers knew this when the did turn down an offer at 154 to fight Tito. If Mosley fought the way he fought DLH in their first fight he would have lost by KO for sure.
Re: Trinidad versus Mosley @ 147
Trinidad by head flying off one's shoulders into the 15th row from a left hook.
I loved Mosely, but Tito was just wrong for him. Don't compare Mosely to Hopkins, De La Hoya, and Wright. Mosely would dig in and fight and get starched.

Felix Trinidad vs Shane Mosley@ Welterweight
12 rounds. Who wins?
Re: Felix Trinidad vs Shane Mosley@ Welterweight
Assuming Mosley around the time he first came up there?
Mosley UD. Too much movement and speed. Not to mention power, Trinidad was there to be hit, I think he'd go down at least once.
Mosley would engage though, if Trinidad ever smelled blood, it could have gone the other way quickly. I just don't think he could get to Mosley enough before Shane gets to him repeatedly.

I can't see Tito beating Mosley. Mosley's style is all wrong for Tito.
Re: Trinidad versus Mosley @ 147
Yep, turns out I still think Mosley beats Tito.

Mosley get's off to good start, but after Tito drops him, he becomes more defensive minded and at the end of 12 it's something like a 5-6 pt win for Trinidad.

Re: Trinidad versus Mosley @ 147
Trinidad by decision.
Re: Trinidad versus Mosley @ 147
Trinidad would hurt Mosely early, send him into survival mode, and win a comfortable decision or stoppage. I was a bigger fan of Mosely when they were active and at their peaks but Mosely's style would get him into trouble with Trinidad.
