Mayweather should fight Marquez in May
Best fight out there right now between the two best fighters
Marquez did land a lot of shots without moving flloyd last time out, he looked fat at light welter, his power wasn't there.
If they fought again I think it would be alot closer than as he looks like a proper light welter now
Mayweather will probably take easy option of fighting guerrero or alvarez who are no where near Marquez right now

I like how Guerrero or Alvarez are an easy option.
Yeah not as many fights and do not hold any wins of Manny but Alvarez is huge at LM and The Ghost has got to be one of the most improved fighters.

Alvarez is fast becoming my fav fighter and i agree, i don't think he is an easy option at all, in fact i'd love to see that fight.bigB wrote:I like how Guerrero or Alvarez are an easy option.

Mayweather dominated him in the first fight, completely pointless them fighting again.

Who has Alvarez actually beat that is world level?? Guerrero just wouldn't pose anything to trouble Floyd at allbigB wrote:I like how Guerrero or Alvarez are an easy option.

Personally I'd rather see Marquez vs Guerrero at WW. far more interesting fight.
I'd like to see Canelo take on Trout, Bundrage any of the other top 10 154lbers. Not much interest in seeing him and Floyd at all.
TBH i think the best fight out there at WW for Floyd is stil Pacman. still a big draw, will still make money and still a respectable win, not to mention a better fight, because Floyd sure isn't going to be putting him on his backside to sleep in the way JMM did,

Marquez should retire but I'd imagine he'll fight Pacquiao again. Trout vs any of the above mentioned would be a good match up in my opinion. Mayweather is too unpredictable who knows if he'll fight again.

^^^i agree PBF against Canelo is the fight i want to see. Even with the improvements in power i cant see how JMM has any chance against PBF in a rematch. PBF was even technically far better in the first fight.
Re: Mayweather should fight Marquez in May
I don't think there's anybody who can beat Floyd, he barely looks like he's trying 90% of the time.
Re: Mayweather should fight Marquez in May
Yep thats why i think he needs to go up a weight to make it a bit more competitive. Alvarez maybe unseasoned but he's big and powerful which at least makes it an interesting match up for floyd. PBF just showed how far above everyone else in that division he was when he fought ortiz, ortiz hardly touched him apart from when he head butted him. Ortiz may not be the greatest but he is considered a competitive fight for anyone at welterweight and Floyd was beating with one hand tied behind his back.banjo wrote:I don't think there's anybody who can beat Floyd, he barely looks like he's trying 90% of the time.
Re: Mayweather should fight Marquez in May
If Marquez wants Floyd again, he needs to go through Berto.
Afterall, thats how ortiz and guerrero got their shots.
It's almost a pre-requisite now for a cynical Floyd match.

I'm not so sure about Alvarez he is getting better all the time but still think Floyd will beat him with not much difficulty, the only fighter around middleweight or lower that I can see giving Floyd problems is Martinez but I can't see that fight happening and I still think Floyd would winFinn wrote:Yep thats why i think he needs to go up a weight to make it a bit more competitive. Re: Mayweather should fight Marquez in May
I think martinez is a bit over hyped imo thats why he is calling out floyd, floyd would have to go to a catch weight to fight him and its going to be at the top end of the lmw limit which floyd doesnt operate at. Martinez needs to be calling out guys like alvarez and AA if he cant get competitive fights at MW. Lets face it Darren barker had martinez's management sat silent for a good portion of that fight, martinez can clearly be out boxed. Dont get me wrong he's a quality operator but he is bloody powerful and thats a big part of his game its not a fair fight for floyd to take unless Martinez drops right down to LMW.banjo wrote:I'm not so sure about Alvarez he is getting better all the time but still think Floyd will beat him with not much difficulty, the only fighter around middleweight or lower that I can see giving Floyd problems is Martinez but I can't see that fight happening and I still think Floyd would winFinn wrote:Yep thats why i think he needs to go up a weight to make it a bit more competitive. Be just another Mayweather vs Boldomir fight.banjo wrote:

Matt Hatton toughed it over 12 rounds, I'm pretty sure Floyd will whilst outboxing him clearly.

The only person that can beat him is someone with a similiar defensive style that is faster/can counterpunch better... which is noone
Guerrero, Marquez, Alvarez, Hatton, Cotto, Ortiz are all sluggest who think/thought to beat Floyd they'd have to KO him. Apart from he's impossible to hit

Dude... Seriously...? A counter-punching fighter who backs off & waits for opportunities to lure opponents into traps? Slugger?
Hmm. Nice.
I could go into his choice of tactics for the Mayweather fight, but I'm not sure I can be bothered seeing as it appears you've never watched the man box.

Re: Mayweather should fight Marquez in May
No but he falls in to the category of a counter puncher that's nowhere near the level of Mayweather, so will get frustrated and attack, and lose every single round.Datsue wrote:danconnollyeire wrote:The only person that can beat him is someone with a similiar defensive style that is faster/can counterpunch better... which is noone

Bradley?! Nonsense, Bradley is too straight forward, he fights in straight lines, he would be picked apart.jimcook wrote:a prime tommy hearns would have pummelled mayweather. so would bradley. pac also. mayweather s a cherry picker and has been since 2003. hes fought no one near their prime since then . so overrated .
Pacman maybe had a chance at one point, but Mayweather most likely would have figured him out and made him miss after a few rounds.
Hearns was a freak at 147, and outside of leonard, i don't see anyone bar the old timers who beats him.
Which if pacman or bradley's victories make you think either would have 'pummelled' Mayweather?
