He looked very wild and limited the time I saw him and if Botha was anything approaching his best he'd win but it wouldn't be one to bet on for me given that there are too many variables around the condition and motivation Botha would have.

He is 100 times the rugby player than he is a boxer ............. a novelty and a dreamer but good enough to win some NZ titles or Oceanic ones

SBW looks to have potential but is very lacking in skills and subtlety I would have thought anybody who has fought at the level of Botha would have too much ringcraft for him. Odd one.

i wouldn't say Botha is corruptible, but he's far removed from what he once was in fighting terms, he took his lumps against Pianeta in his last fight, but was slow plodding and didn't throw much. He was never a puncher in his prime , so hasn't even got that to help him out now.

On the other hand Sonny Bill Williams isn't very good either, has fitness but telegraphs his punches a bit, and like alot of boxers late to the sport hangs his chin in the air when attacking. He should be to all round fit for Botha though.

Not seen his last 2 fights but before that his foot work was poor and he dropped his hands. If Botha hasn't taken a back hander SBW will be getting one that will put him down at some point!

He's bobbins. He's not as bad as Flintoff, but he punches from way to close, doesn't get leverage, telegraphs, is wild, hangs his chin out. Depends how much Botha has left, but any half decent heavy will annihilate him. Dillian Whyte would do him in a round or two.

I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of sonny bill, but in terms of a heavyweight threat he is way too green.

If Botha has a jab he could easily beat sbw.

Yep. He had a falling out with the Australian Rugby Board and decided he wanted a crack at boxing.

Regarding Williams: Essentially he is a part-time boxer and full-time rugby player. He's only boxed 3 minutes in nearly 18 months. He has stamina issues if he doesn't get an early knockout. So, if Botha has anything left and is in the mood, he should win this. He definitely hasn't been disgraced in his last few outings. I'll be sticking a few euros on Frans.

***SPOILER***

Interesting bit of corruption there.

Scheduled as a 12 rounder and announced as a 12 rounder in the introductions but at the start of the 10th round the ref declares it as the last round after a bit of consultation at ringside. Sonny Bill was looking tired from around the 7th and barely hung on in the 10th to grab a points decision. He would never have lasted 12 rounds as Botha was really starting to up the tempo. Frans wasn't too happy at the end declaring the situation as "bullshit". Apparently the ref even told him in the pre-fight instructions that it was over 12 rounds.

Good to see boxing is alive and well!

It will be interesting to see if the bookies will be refunding bets on this as they did have the fight listed as 12 rounds. I had a €20 double on Botha and Martin Lindsay to win. Waiting to hear back from my bookmaker.

To be honest with you I regard Sonny Bill Williams as a novelty attraction who use using boxing as another way to help keep himself in good shape while also making a few quid in the process, I don't think he will get into the top 30 of the Heavyweights unless he jacks rugby in full time to concenrate on boxing.

Don't be so silly. The result has been posted now and you can see there is no way there was anything dodgy going on here.

He wouldn't get in the top 80 I reckon!

Fair play to him though. Earning a packet is a talent and he certainly has that.

More chance of him fighting Bobby Ball.
