If you're saying that if Roy retired after tarver 1 he'd be rated higher, I absolutely agree. But I don't think that he'd be rated appropriately. I can't see anything past the the Johnson fight being held against him.

How is Ali the exception as opposed to the rule? Do you really see all time ratings talking about Robinson/Jones, Leonard/Camacho, Duran/Lawler, Holyfield/Donald, Louis/Marciano, etc....

If so, you deal with a bizarre crowd. As for Morales, his late comeback enhanced his legacy as far as I'm concerned. He produced another epic fight with Maidana, anyone who doesn't rate good losses; isn't properly rating fighters.

I think Sam Langford is the greatest fighter in history and I believe he lost a series to Wills 18-2. So asking me about checking loss totals is barking up the wrong tree.

Saad is right. Ezzard Charles had an awful late career run but no-one (rightfully) ranks his losses post-Marciano against him. Ditto with Robinson in the 60s.

I don't think Chavez is under-rated b/c of his late losses, I think people rate that he never beat a fellow great at his best, got a questionable call vs Taylor, and a complete gift vs Whitaker.

The thing that gets to me with these threads is when the thread starter doesn't clarify whether we are compiling this list based on accomplishments at the said weight 160 pounds only....or whether we are matching these guys on their very best day at 160 against the other guy on his very best day at 160. For example yearns didn't make many defences at 160 but in his best day I take him to kayo abraham who did make a lot if defences

I think you need wins against top level opponents. As many of them as you can. If you have thsat the defeats don't matter too much. Every fighter loses fights if he takes on the best competition.
