FRANK BRUNO TO RELEASE AUTOBIOGRAPHY...

What do you think of this? Has the potential to be throw away stuff or extremely good IMO.

If Bruno goes through his same old routine that makes him impossible to be used an analyst on boxing shows i.e. ducking & diving serious questions, constantly resorting to catch phrases and laughing things off, fence sitting and refusing to have an opinion then its going to be shit.

But hes actually hooked up with Kevin Smith to tell his story (Smith made 'War Baby', good book despite the corny self-created Gerald McClellan dialogue) and if he really is brutally honest about his life, feelings, and more recent problems then it could really be a hard hitting & gripping read that will give him back some creditibility. Seems unlikely though.

Brunos last book was 'Zero to Hero', quickly thrown together in 1996 to cash in on his world title. The material was not in chronological order, lots of filler and overall quite haphazard and as usual Bruno didnt let anyone know what was really going on in his mind. Its sole strong point was a concise fight by fight analysis of his career in his own words. When you've read as many autobiographys as i have (Jack Johnson, Sugar Ray Robinson, Foreman, Ali, Frazier, Holmes etc) its a relief to read as book where a fighter can recount every single fight in detail as most ignore their early fights and even gloss over important world title fights in two lines or less (Jack Johnsom worst offender)

Whatcha think? I'll definitely check it out when its released anyway. Hoping for the best...

From the excerpt I've read so far it seems like interesting near the knuckle stuff. I agree about the Johnson book too... very good in parts but his recollection of his fights was quite poor.....

I'll be buying a copy. I inevitably do even though some are very disappointing. I read Terry Marsh's auto-biog last week and it was pretty good (apart from the poor grammar and insistence that Doug DeWitt is Canadian).
