I saw him at the hall of fame a couple of years ago and he seemed fine. He was training a couple of prelim fighters.

Saad should sell the rights to his lifestory to some bookpublisher or Hollywood producer. His story is the kind that would have had mass appeal in both the book and film world.
Great fighter, great man, one hell of a life.
My personal favorite of all time :TU:

I've heard that Johnny Tapia may be having a film made on his life which would be very interesting. I can't think of any fight films (other than 'monkey on my back') that have concentrated on the life of a fighter under the middleweight division... which is a real shame as many of boxings greatest characters have been 'little men!'.

true true, but the public's interest fades after the middleweight division in history... most people want to see heavyweights..theres just not as much of a draw for the little guys i think a major part of this is a beleif that the little guys cant ko each other in brutal fashion, which is wat most of the public wants to see when they watch some kind of boxing movie or and actual fight for the matter.

I hope he's not homeless, he's my favourite fighter of all time.

The man's courage was incredible.

Was there ever a better fight, than his 1980 fight with Yaqui Lopez?

No of course hes not homeless, just lives a nomadic, travelling life style, been training boxers for ten years.

PS good idea about a book/film of Saad. Problem is no non-boxing fans would really believe all those Saad fights where he literally came from thebrink of defeat to knock out his opponent, or how many brutal wars he had.

Problem with all boxing films is that they are all too corny and polished. A film about Saad would have to be dark, ghetto and hard hitting, not fluffy & fake like Ali or Rocky and all that shit.
