I think Gavin Rees may just cause an upset.....

Post by TopGun »

Call me crazy but I have strange feeling he could cause a huge upset here.

If I was a betting man then I would definitely put £20 on a Rees win!

To be honest, I wouldn't.

If he gets past 3 rounds, that would be a decent showing. Don't get me wrong, I'd like him to win but talent levels apart, the size differential height / weight (in particular the weight), will be too much.

Save your £20 or stick it on Broner to win inside 3.

Well, become a betting man, then! He's available at 16/1. You won't see odds of that kind too often on someone you fancy to win!

No chance imo, though i would like to see it happen.

I think Broner will shine here and do a number Rees inside five rounds.

Rees is unlikely to get a decision even if he deserves it.

Broner too big. Rees might win some friends though as I think he’ll put up a good show. He’s a very good fighter. No way the Americans will let Broner in a fight he might lose. They need a new moron for the suburbanites to unite behind…

I've had nibble at it. Couldn't be arsed signing up to pinnacle sports so took Rees @ 25/1 for the stoppage and 16/1for the win. I think the Odds are stacked heavily against Rees at about 20/80 but in a 2 horse race which could get a bit dirty anything can happen with cuts etc. It's little outlay for huge yield. Be prepared to lose but as I said in an earlier thread, if Gav won and I wasn't on that train I'd be a very unhappy bunny. I'd rather throw a score away safe in the knowledge i was aboard than him to win and stand in an empty station. I think I left the top of my tippex thinners........

Odds checker have a 5/117 for Rees to win ! That's about 1/24 ! £10 on Rees to win pays £240. It's got to be worth at least a fiver !!!

I think it's distinctly possible that Broner is rather over rated in some quarters who feel the need for a replacement FMJ but I really can't envisage an upset on Saturday. Rees was life and death with Derry Matthews, who is a splendid specimen at British level, but I think it is fair to say is a step short of World elite. Styles make fights but they rarely make miracles, with due respect to Gavin.

lets hope so.

someone mentioned tha fact gavin is giving away height!!.. no shit sherlock, has he ever been taller than an opponent??... he never fought Ian Napa.

Rees needs to get in glose and wing in those hooks down and upstairs. he needs to fight prizefighter stylee for 12 rounds!!

I know Rees is small but I have to admitt I was shocked at just how big Bronner looked !
I'm obviously hoping Rees can test him, but at the same time if Bronner destroys him it's nice to know we have a new superstar on the horizon !

He will in all likelyhood lose however to call him mediocre is disrespectfull to a British,European and former world champion who has only lost once.If Broner is as overated as i think he might be this could be a good fight. You would think Rees is fighting Mayweather and not someone who has not proven much for all the chance people giving Rees in this fight.

Come on, Rees is British level at most. Rees might have won World and European belts doesn't make him World or European class.
World class management maybe? But nothing else. Not distrespectfull, good luck to him, just a fact.

I'm gonna have a tenner on the Rock. Well worth it at 16-1.

Probably my favourite fighter to watch. I'd love to see him swarm all over Broner early on like a plague of wasps.

He's a lot better than British level! Knocking on the door for world class let see if it opens sat! Good operator is Rees.

I've had a small nibble at broner UD @ 8/1. No value backing broner by stoppage or outright (even though I think broner will stop him) but if gav is competitive and sees the final bell, the judges verdict will go only one way.

I think you would be better going broner on points because is think it will be a UD in an at times close fight. People are massively over rating broner imo, but i doubt rees will ko him and will drop points mid rounds like usual and has no chance of getting a decision against a US star in the US. i hear the man in the hat may show up to help with the score cards.

Theres nothing i would love more than to see Rees pull off the upset,i just cant see it though to be honest,he,ll be brave thats for sure and he`ll go out on his shield but i think Broner will just be too EVERYTHING for him,i think it will be Miguel Cotto/Michael Jennings or Kelly Pavlik/Gary Lockett all over again, between 4 and 8 for me,i pray im wrong i always am :bag:
Also i think the lack of publicity has been nothing short of disgraceful, you think with Sky only having several boxers on their rosta they would be having a whole week or at least 3 days building up the fight especially as we have a brit going over to America to take on 1 of the most highly rated young boxers in the world :shame:

What is clearly your opinion that he isn't 'European class' is somehow a 'fact'?

Erm, no it isn't.

It's a load of shite. In my opinion.
