It was evident from the outset, as Saensak Muangsurin looked much bigger than the veteran Spaniard.
In Round 1, the Champion let Miguel Velazquez move in and score with straight lefts-and-rights. Saensak
just stayed along the ropes with his hands held high, and Miguel used the standard techique, of straight
one-two's to win the Round.
In Round 2, the Champion had seen enough, and mid-way through the round opened up with a barrage,
and within a 'flash' Miguel Velazquez was on the canvas at the (1:41 Mark). The Challenger took the
'Mandatory 8-Count' and got on his bicycle. The Champion stalked with a steady-pace, and whacked with
a long left hand as Velazquez back-pedalled.
In Round 3, Saensak again stalked, with his steady walking pace. Each time that Miguel was within range,
the Thai Champion unloaded heavy bombs driving Miguel backwards. At the (2:12 Mark) Saensak was able
to trap the Challenger long enough to land a crushing left-right-left - dropping Miguel again, and opening
up a cut ove his left eye. Miguel took the 'Mandatory 8-Count', and used his quick skiiing-type footwork to
survive the Round.
In Round 4, Miguel was able to land his left jab and then quickly back-pedal, to avoid the heavy bombs from
the southpaw Champion, but soon Saensak was back on top of him unloading vicious punches. Late in the Round,
the Champion backed up Miguel near a 'neutral-corner' and bombarded away, and had Miguel teetering on unsteady
pins.
Suddenly the Bell Rang ending the round, but Saensak let go with a right hand, and as Miguel turned to his left,
to walk back to his corner, the Champion landed a thudding left hand on the right side of his head.
Miguel went down in a heap on his back, and layed stradle-legged with his legs wide-apart on the canvas
while unconcious.
Almost immediately, Referee - Abraham Chavarria called a 'foul' and 'late hit'. After staying down for 2-Minutes,
Miguel was brought back to his corner, in an attempt to revive him.
After a meeting with the WBC Represetatives, including President - Jose Sulaiman, Saensak Muangsurin was
'Disqualified' (L Disqualification 5) and the WBC Light Welterweight Championship was awarded to Spaniard - Miguel Velazquez.
Though, the WBC did mandate an immediate rematch between the two within 120-Days.
Another Norris/Santana, except that I hope the medical response was more adequate in Spain.
