Anderson vacates. Board order Dodson/Smith
Paul Smith and Tony Dodson have been nominated by BBBC to fight for the vacant British 12st title
Re: Anderson vacates. Board order Dodson/Smith
Why did Anderson vacate?
The board should leave the title vacant for a while instead of allowing Smith vs Dodson for the title.

Re: Anderson vacates. Board order Dodson/Smith
Whys Anderson Vacated after all the moaning about getting the shot?? Isnt there anyone more deserving than these two??
Re: Anderson vacates. Board order Dodson/Smith
Anderson's reign must be one of the most undistinguished ever, he wins the vacant title against a middle aged Reid then doesn't even defend it.
Re: Anderson vacates. Board order Dodson/Smith
its a load of BS the board are a joke, why dont they have 2 new challengers for the title and have dodson vs smith for the number 1 contender slot. and here is me thinking british boxing is on the up
Re: Anderson vacates. Board order Dodson/Smith
Did Groves, DeGale, Magee, Fielding and Blackledge all reject the opportunity to fight for the vacant title?
Re: Anderson vacates. Board order Dodson/Smith
You mean Dodson beating a guy who was 8-27-1 and Smith last opponent was 4-12-1 doesn't justify a British Title shot ? .......benji12345 wrote:its a joke what have they done to deserve a title fight what is rob smith doing youre a joke
Anybody would think that there is a Liverpool show coming up and somebody wants a couple of scousers in a title fight on the bill .......
To be honest though, when you take out Froch, Degale, Groves and Magee (who are looking at bigger titles) who else is there ? - although it doesn't make it right, very convenient this.

Still holding out for a fight against Groves maybe and doesn't want to risk losing the chance of a reasonable pay day?Flump wrote:Anderson's reign must be one of the most undistinguished ever, he wins the vacant title against a middle aged Reid then doesn't even defend it.
It's a very strange choice. The British would have given him a nice earning tool and a chance to boost his profile etc.

Politics aside, smith dodson will be a decent scrap.

It's all George Groves's fault for making Anderson so aware that you can vacate a title tho.Flump wrote:Anderson's reign must be one of the most undistinguished ever, he wins the vacant title against a middle aged Reid then doesn't even defend it.
Re: Anderson vacates. Board order Dodson/Smith
Depends what you mean by decent scrap. I'd say it's a boring fight if you ain't a scouser. Paul Smith proves f**k all by beating Dodson. Much rather see Smith v Anderson (I was quite looking forward to that) or Fielding or summat.Wales wrote:Politics aside, smith dodson will be a decent scrap.
I suppose if Anderson's been promised a high paying grudge match fight against Groves for his first European defence, he'll drop the belt like hot shit. Title's been tailor made for Smith.

First fight was awful! Board are awful for making this.Wales wrote:Politics aside, smith dodson will be a decent scrap.
Re: Anderson vacates. Board order Dodson/Smith
Isn't Paul Smith too fat to fight for this title?

Re: Anderson vacates. Board order Dodson/Smith
Personal reasons cited by Anderson. Not a great fight Smith and Dodson thought maybe someone like Rocky Fielding could get a shot.
Re: Anderson vacates. Board order Dodson/Smith
Huge suprise Kenny has vacated the title I'm intrigued to know why.
Would have thought Rocky Fielding was next in line for the British Title surely.

Re: Anderson vacates. Board order Dodson/Smith
what about the underrated Ryan Clark ????
Re: Anderson vacates. Board order Dodson/Smith
Most of what I want to say has already been posted, but this is poor. Smith is coming off two stoppage losses in his last two British title fights, and has beaten nothing but journeymen either side of those defeats. Dodson has been fighting at light-heavy, where he got stopped early for the Commonwealth. The first fight was a poor, scrappy affair.
Don't understand how the Board could make this.
Was Anderson vs Smith ever put out for purse bids btw?

Re: Anderson vacates. Board order Dodson/Smith
Eddie Hearn made Smith an offer to fight Anderson on the Bellew bill. Smith claimed it was a pathetic offer. Now he gets to fight for the vacant tittle. Strange one this.

He's vacated the title? Those personal issues must be serious..didn't he drop out of a proposed EBU fight with DeGale last year
