Wladimir Klitschko says David Price v Thompson is 50/50

Post by steaway »

During a recent interview with Wladimir Klitschko, he was asked his prediction of Price-Thompson. He said he can't pick a favorite and the fight is 50/50 http://www.worldboxingnews.net/news/wbn ... 50-50.html

Conclusion:

This fight means nothing to Wladimir.

i think its more of a case of wlad trying to big up his previous opponents so his wins look better.

Wlad is a nice guy, he probably doesn't wish to seem disrespectful to either fighter by picking a winner. why does the world #1 need an agenda?

Soon as Price comes up against a pressure fighter I think he loses, I didnt think he looked comfortable when Skelton jumped on him at the opening bell.

I dont think Thompson is the guy to do it.

His zero will go pretty soon in my opinion - don't see a long term world title holder like a lot
are saying on here.

It's funny how a guy can be under pressure and look uncomfortable for about 30 seconds, and this is enough for people to decide he is a KO waiting to happen. He came out slow and Skelton jumped on him. Then he warmed up and knocked the guy out. Wach had Wladamir in more trouble in that one round than Skelton had Price. He wasn't competitive otherwise. Obviously we'll see how he does against Thompson, but who do you think is the 'pressure fighter' to take out Price? Chisora? Arreola?

He was a KO waiting to happen well before Skelton - his whiskers are suspect from the enough I have seen of him. It takes one shot in the heavyweight division and there are plenty who can derail
him. :TU:

Who though, and how? I'm not being argumentative I'm genuinely interested in your opinion. Price is pretty untested but he's disposed of everything put in front of him in good fashion. I can see both Klitshko's and Haye beating him at the moment. The rest of the top ten isn't that great. So who do you think will take him out?

As an amateur he was badly stopped and nearly stopped a fair few times. You can't train durability
and he does not have it I am afraid. It might take a world class heavyweight to expose him but he
will be exposed sooner or later. I am not the oracle, I tipped Audley Harrison for world class honours but I just can't see how Price can get to a world title without getting knocked out.

Who will take him out - God knows - but I won't be surprised when it happens (and it will be soon).

I'd hoped for a proper response. This is why this forum is becoming so boring, no offense Fat Git (who as far as I can tell is a good poster). If you'd actually broken down some possible opponents and why you think they'd beat him, I'm sure there'd be a fair few people who would want to read it. But if a thread goes:

"I think he'll get beat soon."
"OK who do you think will beat him?"
"Dunno. He'll get beat though."
"Oh right."

Then you can sort of see why people can't be fucked with coming on here anymore.

I look at Boxrec every day, but I'm trying to cut down. Like smoking. I don't enjoy either that much anymore, but I just keep going back.

I don't think he was in trouble at any time v Skelton, and finished him in the second, in stead of looking for him to fail, you should be glad we have a genuine heavyweight contender :bag: :bag:

It's allright - it's just the bandwaggoning of Price is boring as fornicate. I can't be arsed going into who may or may not beat him if they aren't going to meet -I mean who cares? It is like all those pointless debates about 1970's Brazil playing the Spain of today or if Muhammad Ali could have beaten Tyson. What I do know is that Thompson isn't going to beat him next week, so until then...

And someone is going to beat him eventually - it is just in my opinion it will be sooner rather than later.

If people can't be fucked with coming on here and you are going to do one then shut the door on the way out - no offence. :D The forum will go on despite your absence.

As a pro, Wladimir has been stopped on three occasions, and been put on the deck a fair few times. The key is his level of improvement since those fights. Price may not have been born with an Oliver McCall type jaw, but you don't actually need one of those to succeed at the highest level. Wlad has proved that.

And Price has often stated he models himself on Wlad. It's like Khan: if he didn't get involved in tear ups he'd win. But he can't help himself. Wlad doesn't, and keeps winning. As Price improves, as long as he deploys a defensive style with his power, I can't see any of the shorter heavyweights getting inside to do damage. Those are the more explosive fighters in the division at the moment: the shorter guys. I can't see any of the fighters under 6'4" beating him at the moment to be honest, other than Haye. Even then, Haye would fight extremely cautiously.

I never said he was in trouble I said I didnt think he looked comfortable under pressure.

Also im not sure you can call him a genuine contender when he has only fought at domestic level.

i dont think khan gets in the tear ups through being macho im not convinced he knows how to fight on the back foot. He jumps in and out, runs around alot but he doesnt actually box defensively.

Right now, Price would get stopped by....

Wlad
Vitali
Povetkin
Fury
Arreola

Now you've done it, you are going to get 12 pages of how Fury is some jammy pikey who would last
a round with Price and how that knockdown when they last met was really a slip blah blah blah. Good luck with that my man. :TU:
