Post by littlepug »

Don't know if it was the best ever, but Jorge Castro on John David Jackson in Round 9 was memorable
Frazier v Ali I was also nice

The one Michael Spinks landed on Marvin Johnson was straight up serious coldcock.

Ray Leonard's hook on Davey Boy Green was nothing less than awesome.

Bob Foster - Mike Quarry , Ray Robinson - Gene Fullmer. Giacaminos call on Frazier - Ali is right on also. That was a tremendous shot. Especially late in the fight.

You fellas are missing a crucial one. How about that beauty Walcott landed on Charles: http://youtu.be/i0hZKnQ07IE .
I think the hook landed on Johansson by Patterson was brutal as well: http://youtu.be/PoK50XlZUDg .
Tommy Morrison had some nice ones, especially on this boy in blue: http://youtu.be/ze3ycQjA5NA?t=1m28s
And the only knockout that has ever shocked me while watching a fight: Wilson vs Nwodo: http://youtu.be/OS77moBJnTM . This was so vicious.
Donaire`s stunning knockout over Darchinyan: http://youtu.be/VQLbi2duG5E and one the most beautiful counters over a right hand I have ever seen in his left hook that knocked out Montiel: http://youtu.be/chxmYF4m2xg

Most have been mentioned…

Curry-McCrory
McCallum-Curry
Leonard-Green
Holyfield-Bowe III
Foster-Quarry (actually frightening)
Foster-Tiger
Robinson-Fullmer
Robinson-Graziano
Callejas-Stecca (often under the radar)

Great left hookers

Dempsey
Frazier
Chavez
Pintor

Underrated left hookers – these guys had such great right hands people overlook their left hook

Bob Foster had an awesome left-hook. Like Sugar Ray Leonard, Carlos Palomino also knocked out Dave "Boy" Green with a tremendous left-hook to the head. Green was "out" for quite awhile.

Green’s big punch was nicknamed the muck spreader. I think he used to work on a farm.

I remember him tagging Leonard with it…maybe the round before…and ray decided enough was enough… in later life Dave looked Ray up when in the US and Leonard invited him over to his house…and treated him really well.

Micky Hughes knocking out Gary Jacobs, well behind on points and Jacobs looking comfortable then 1 left hook by Hughes and the ref could of counted to 100

Frazier through a History making Left Hook which by all measures seemed educatedly refined, one night in Madison Square Garden.

Do you think the ref should have stopped this earlier? I am 50/50 on it.

Glad Frazier-Foster got mentioned. That was a very impressive hook.

After that fight, in the dressing room, Foster started lacing up his boxing shoes.

Bob's trainer asked him what the hell he was doing. Foster replied that he was getting ready for the fight.

When I was watching the fight I was thinking it would be stopped soon because Wilson was landing a large volume of punches. I figured Wilson would land a few more and the ref would call it. I think the ref could have easily stopped it earlier because Nwodo was on shaky legs quite a few times and seemed incapable of return-fire. I had no problem with him not stopping it though. Massive shot Nwodo took because of it though.

One of my favorites is Tua crushing Ruiz in 19 seconds with basically just two massive hooks.

Too bad Ruiz`s career did not end with that hook. That shot on the way down was vicious. Tua had huge power.

The way it ended reminds me of Starling/Molinares a little.
