The three magazines have some very interesting articles in huge detail that i am sure not many if any on here will have seen before.
One interesting thing i noticed is a brief mention of a guy called Ansell, who apparently won the world championship of Tom Cribb. Does anyone know anything about this guy, as i have never heard of him before.
Of Side interest one of the other ones has an interesting story where Mike Donovan rates the Irish Giant Ned O Baldwin as the best fighter he has seen (better than Sullivan) in an article that also mentions McCool.

Re: Ansell v Cribb
Much was made about Ned O'Baldwin when he came across the pond. Consider him the Paul Sykes of his time, as far as mentality goes. I think O'Baldwin's career more or less ended because he wound up killing a guy outside the ring. As for Cribb, he was the man who fought Tom Mulineaux twice; the first was an obviously biased contest where Cribb got all the breaks and advantages over Mulineaux. The rematch, Mulineaux was broke and becoming an alcoholic, and was defeated in quicker fashion. Quite the skilled man was Cribb for his day and considered one of the toughest, so it was quite a shock to the public that he got hurt by Mulineaux in their first contest. Cribb also is well known for having defeated Bill Richmond, another American boxer, who in turn later trained Mulineaux.
