Maybe the British Masters European Title ?

I love the business/sport of pro boxing and believe that having stepping stones towards "real" titles offers benefits i.e.increased rounds for fighters experience and non tv/small hall shows can boost ticket sales meaning better purses or in this climate survival for promoters.

But longer term the fans will (already have?) become tired of it and what does that do for the future ?

Tescos wanted to increase profits and increased thier selection of burgers & other meat products so offered meats under different titles ..................How many people still buy tesco meat ?

Thing is Masters titles have been around for a while and will be around for a while.I get the argument for the silver/bronze etc ,however I think these new versions obv reflect a demand for them to be offerd for either an eight or a twelve round fight.

My mates disabled brother got attacked in Magaluf in the summer, so I ended up in a fight. Therefore, I am fighting for The Spanish title in a month. Viva Espange

They've already got an International Masters title, why can't they just fight for that?! I assume its vacant.

I liked the idea of Masters belts. But this is taking the piss now. They've got International, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Junior and any combination of them you like, no doubt.

The BBBoC needs to step the hell up.

And you see this as matching as competitive ?

The issue I have here is that these guys must sell tickets to get paid and along the way they hope to build or at least maintain a following when they are miss matched with European journeymen who come for a pay cheque this damages the integrity of the sport/business and also the fighter long term as they start to struggle to sell tickets for shows

Like them or loathe them the Masters titles are in demand and are used every weekend of the year by promoters. The Board refuse to acknowledge them so I doubt there is little the board can do bout it. It's a huge grey area the way I see it. No check weigh-ins, they contravene their own rules (10 fights and must have fought over 8x3 duration) and seem to bring whatever "titles" they want to invent to the table.

Bruce is making a fortune and I agree with you about their rules which they breech all the time etc but if people want to pay to watch let them get on with it and you are correct it is a huge grey area and yes as far as the board are concerned its just a 10 round contest or indeed an 8 round contest so in reality its treated the same way as a 4x3 or 6x2 contest and you can be any weight you want to be

Come again? FFS, I didn't realise that the Board didn't approve. Yet they are on shows overseen by the BBBoC every week! What an absolute load of shite.

No, I don't see the match as competitive and that's why I won't be watching it. For me it has nothing to do with whatever title is on the line. I think it's a shitty match, belt or no belt. If other people do want to watch, though, good on them and good on the fighters and promoter. It doesn't bother me and whilst you're perfectly entitled to let it bother you, I think it's probably worth asking yourself if it's really that big a deal.

For the future of the sport/business of boxing this type of thing is becoming more frequent so the long term effects could be a big deal when the public decide they no longer want to pay the knock on being the business and all conected make no money which is obviously a big deal to everyone involved in any capacity ??

Do punters actually want to watch Masters title matches, or would they be going to these shows already, because they want to support one of the fighters involved?
