Boxing at the movies - BBC4 Documentary

Noticed an interesting programme advertised for this Sunday night on BBC4. Thought I'd give you all the heads up.

BBC4 9pm Sunday 03rd March: Boxing at the movies, Kings of the ring.

Danny Leigh explores the elemental drama of the boxing movie, asking why filmmakers from Stanley Kubrick to Martin Scorsese have returned time and again to tales of the ring.

Great if you love boxing and movies. Just noticed that Cinderella Man is on straight afterwards.

Why do the Beeb keep putting this tit at the helm of film shows when they have Mark Kermode on the books? Along with Winkleman, he's ruined Film 2013 and they've had some of the shittest Top Five... guests I've ever seen. He'll probably spend most of it moaning about boxing itself.

I'll watch the show, but still.

I do wonder why they didn't give the Film 2013 job to Mark Kermode. Something not quite right there.

I do think this will be a difficult watch but thanks for the heads up - BBC4 has bucket loads of great stuff, most of which I miss.

Some people are just best suited to Radio. Him, Simon Mayo & John Inverdale should be kept on the radio.

I think he suffers from conjunctivitis or something, his eyes always look screwed and he looks like he has 24/7 'flu, always sweating and pale.

Agreed on all points. Leigh is difficult to listen to, let alone watch.

Inverdale and the Six Nations coverage is an interesting one. A new anchor and better commentators is probably a good idea. A whole new set-up actually. From the current cast of thousands, I'd only keep five and some of them only by the skin of their teeth.

Davies needs to be outed. He don't co-commentate. He just talks about/cheers on Wales for 80 minutes. Too many Welsh on the 6 nations bbc coverage.

Butler has to stay purely for his French prounounciation. It gets more outlandish as the weeks go by.
