So, to spell out for you what I already wrote, why was he wobbling all over the place vs Cammarelle, Stiverne, Fury & that dude who hit him on the break in his debut?

Or did he get a perforated ear-drum each time?
So you think the fact he was caught around the ear, which resulted in it being perforated, had no impact on the result, he lost purely because he cannot take a punch? As I said earlier I don't think Price necessarily has a good chin but I'm not sure he should be written off just yet considering the ear injury would affect anyone. Darren Barker being an example of losing by KO to an almost identical punch to the side of the ear and it being perforated.

Why, again, has he wobbled about like that in the past? Was his eardrum punctured each time?

& your Barker comparison is both fatuous & stupid. Because Barker took a shellacking from the undisputed world champion & only gave way after eleven rounds of steadily being broken down. Plus, the shot that put Barker over was a fvcking great clumping thud upside the head that would've flattened Pricey for about a week. & it was thrown by someone who has knocked out top fellas with one shot at the weight. When has Thompson shown that kind of power before this?

Or did he suddenly develop Julian Jackson-esque hit-you-with-one-shot-anywhere-you-go power when he put on twenty pounds of flab?

You seem determined to plough your furrow without actually reading or listening to anyone else's response. I have written out, twice, in very simple language, why I don't believe the ear issue is, er, an issue in this case, namely that Price has been put on Queer Street before (with the headguards on in fact).

That you have made me write this out three fvcking times now & probably still won't respond to it is fvcking tiresome & could even be construed as obtuse, you know? Not controversial, just fvcking annoying.

I`m no doctor but i would have thought it is plainly obvious that a fighter who regulary takes sustained beatings will suffer as a consequence. A one punch knockout like Jackson v Bomber Graham, or McCallum c Curry is fairly painless way to go and one that is likely to have little long term effect.

Other guys like Randall Cobb who regulary took huge beatings without going down, surely are at higher risk of complications. I always thought the real danger came through exhaustion and that a fighter will suffer more if he is knocked out late on whilst exhausted, after taking punishment for over 20 minutes. That`s why i don`t see why someone knocked down badly from one punch in the first round is not allowed to continue. Ok, there are obvioulsy times when common sense says stop the fight as they guy has no chance (such as Amir Khan in his fight against Prescott) but if you look at terms of actual damage done, I reckon he suffered less trauma to the brain in that fight then in the 10th round against Maidana.

We have seen some unbelievable stoppages over the years and the some of the ones that spring to mind are Degale v Dilks, McKenzie v Maccaranelli, Matthews v Crolla and Calzaghe v Manfredo.

These fights were stopped very early when the fighter was Fresh and not really taking any hard clean shots (Crolla excepted). Then you have the likes of Khan taking a monster knockdown, barely standing upright and being left to carry on.

I am no advocate of Williams v Beau Jack style finishes, but at least let the action unfold properly without jumping in at the first sign of weakness

Why do I see so many Price fans on various forums trying to make excuses? "It hit him on the sweet spot", "Any heavyweight can KO you with one punch", "He's not chinny, it was just a freak shot". :o :o

He was dropped many times when he had headgear on. He was knocked out by the first decent punch Tony landed. He can't take a shot. It isn't calling him a bad fighter. It's simply a fact. He has no head movement and has poor footwork which will always get him into trouble against decent fighters. He has to learn to use his feet more and stop pawing with the jab and use it as a weapon. I think he will get sparked again in his next 3-4 fights, however, because I don't think he or his trainer will change things.

He needs Booth back. Booth is a tactical man and analysis' greatly how to overcome certain obsticles and I think would be great!

Price needs a trainer that teaches him to jab, he has the height and build to make his job easier if he jabbed properly. Whats all this tippy tap jab thing that he does?

He doesn't use it as a weapon which I find odd seeing as he admits to being a big fan of Wlad. He paws with it, waves it around a lot and not much else. It should be his main punch. Opponents can get near him because of his lack of jab. Skelton got on his chest with no head movement or footspeed; simply walked forward and was where he wanted to be. He needs it slamming into his opponents face constantly. Break them down with it and use it to set up other stuff.

Hahaha do you have anger issues? My first post said I was "playing devils advocate" which just means I am looking at the result from another angle. I have read your posts, just because I am asking questions there's no need to get abusive. There are plenty of examples of fighters being wobbled or stopped as amateurs (and pro) and becoming very successful, so listing a few blokes who wobbled Price as an amateur doesn't prove anything. Price beat Fury quite convincingly as an amateur (yes Price was dropped but got up) but I bet the result wouldn't be the same as pros so the amateur result is a moot point as well.

Pacquiao was sparked in his 12th fight by a complete unknown, Bonecrusher Smith was stopped in his debut and Andre Ward was wobbled by Kenny Kost and dropped by powerpuff puncher Darnell Boone as examples of good fighters having bad times off the top of my head. A few dodgy moments or bad results doesn't always mean you should write someone off.

All I am saying is the punch landed on his ear and perferated his eardrum. The eardrum controls your balance so on this occasion do you not think that contributed to the loss? I'm guessing by your previous answers you are incapable of having a balanced debate so I assume you will just get abusive or list the fighters who wobbled Price as that obviously covers any question I ask about him, lol.

If they fought prime for prime I don't see Price lasting more than about 60 seconds.

Comparing Price to Lewis is stupid...the two times Lewis was KOed he was hit by a BOMB FFS!
The people that are making up threads like this are caring to ignore the fact the amount of times he was put down in the Ams,couple this by the way he was starched last weekend from first meaningful punch he has been hit with as a pro,and it was not a hard punch by any sense of the imagination btw ,even for the die hard nut hugger this should be a sign of what missing with Price.
This  and this:

Punch resistance aside, seems to be lacking in the skills department. Fighters who utilise lateral movement confuse him and he lets smaller fighters get within punching range far too easily (see Skelton). The holes in his game and his punch resistance are what will hinder him. He certainly does have power though; if he does ever get a world title shot he will always have a chance because of that.

Yes. I am now a believer that Price's chin is weak, but I'm certain Skelton hit him harder than Thompson did without making him blink. If that punch was really an indication of what it takes to stop him, Audley would have decked him with that one jab he landed.

I think Price was brought along too slowly. He's been a pro for four years; compare that to someone like Kubrat Pulev who fought Matt Skelton in only his fifth pro fight. He also added Travis Walker, Derric Rossy, Zack Page, Dominick Guinn, Michael Sprott quickly and last year fought Dimitrenko and Ustinov. He was really moved along nicely and is now on the verge of a title shot. Price needs to get back in the ring with decent guys and not go back to the Harrison's, Skelton types.

I was surprised how quick they tested Kubrat Pulev, and he came through those early tests well. But then seemed to stall a bit, but he's looked good again in his last couple of fights, maybe his size will count against him against the Klits, but i'd give him a chance against any of the others in the heavyweight division.

He is definitely one i'd avoid if i handled Price.

Pulev is a monster; I think he's the future of the division. Even before Thompson, he was one I thought of as a favourite over Price.

Yeah, I like the look of Pulev. He would have hammered Adamek, too.

Vastly experienced amatuers who operated at world level in the unpaid ranks don't need the softly softly approach. Pulev operated at a higher level than Price in the ams but Price was always in and around the international competitions but didn't really do anything until Beijing. He had more than enough experience to bypass a few of the guys he faced and stepped it up a touch earlier.

Pulev is a great example of how quality amateurs should go about their pro career.

I meant overall. On a more regular basis. Guess I should have said that! :TU:

Price was not expected to go past the first round in Beijing. Him getting a medal was quite unexpected.

Kubrat won the IBF #1 spot and Tyson Fury vs Steve Cunningham are fighting for the IBF #2 spot.

They could call for a final eliminator to face Wlad - or hand Pulev a straight shot and if he declines, then offer it to Fury should he expectedly beat Cunningham.
