Who the **** are these people?!

Post by dbflex »

Inspired by the latest grubby ratings scandal to engulf the IBF, check out this list of mediocre and/or unproven fighters who are each listed in the top three of at least one of the 'big four' governing bodies. There may well be some future world champions in this list but I'd suggest none deserve their current rankings. How many have you seen, how many have you heard of? Am I being unfair on this lot?

Luis Ortiz
Ryan Coyne
Julien Marie Sainte (will hopefully drop down in the ratings as he recently lost)
Emanuele Della Rosa
Bethuel Ushona
Nihito Arakawa
Jose A Gonzalez
Claudio Marrero

Incidentally, I've seen three of them on tape and I'd heard of five (to the extent I knew what division they were in etc).

Wasn't Coyne in the frame to box Cleverly at some point? I recognise the name.

Bethuel Ushona is the one i've seen boxing Denton Vassell, decent enough boxer , tough and strong but not top three

Well Vassell's not in a big four top five.

Coyne was down to fight Clev.

Gonzalez is Burns' no. 1 challenger!

Though to be fair he did stop Pipino Cuevas.

Della Rosa won a disputed close decision against Nasser Al Harbi. He's doesn't deserve a top 3 ranking in my opinion. He has been protected and the last time he stepped up in class he lost a split decision against Zbik (who later got stopped by Sturm).

Isn't Luis Ortiz the flabby Cuban heavyweight whose only name of note on his record is a 50 year old Bert Cooper?

We've finally arrived at a point where Peter McNeeley types are not the odd freak embarrassing rating, but actually the norm and cluttering the rankings, particularly at heavyweight.
