Seconds Out reports that Skelton & Mcbride are going to fight later this year

Words fail me. This has all the potential to be horrible. I'd tip Skelton to win though, maybe that WBA shot could happen afterall....

I thought Ruiz vs McBride was all but signed, I thought Williams vs Skelton was arranged. Can't see Warren being happy with Skelton turning down the fighter he offered.

Not a bad move by Skelton, i'd say Mcbride is an easier opponent than Williams, and also a bigger reward for Skelton if he wins and gets a WBA or WBO title shot.

I am hard pressed to think of a situation where two such monumentally untalented fighters will meet for the right to fight for a "world" ( I still find it hard to include WBO )title

Can't see it being entertaining though so best make it for the WBA title and make have:

the winner of Skelton v McBride to fight the winner of Ruiz v Valuev

McBride is a palooka, he was lucky that Tyson had no interest in being in a boxing ring. The guy who Williams beat would have knocked the shit out of McBride in the 1st.

Yeah its not a fight that i want to see, hopefully Magee v Takaloo fight will still be on , that was supposed to be on the Skelton v Williams undercard

Bloody hell, this is the kind of shit that is passing as a World Title fight eliminator these days? What an absolute joke, Skelton at least has won and defended the British title and so his conclusion is marginally not as bad but what has McBride done to warrant a world title shot of any form? He beat a washed up shell of Tyson and that gets him a big fight? A total joke.

This is a clever piece of matchmaking, if it was Audley Vs McBride there would have been a fornicating uproar on the forums.

McBride is slower than a pot smoking slug, but he can bang and might well test Skeltons chin, I reckon Skelton mauls his way to a win in this one though

I would have much preferred to see Danny Vs Skelton, this is the easier fight of the 2. I agree with Danny, the night he pulled out of the first fight was the luckiest of Skeltons life

It would have been a sensible fight for Audley. I wouldn't have complained.

McBride isn't ranked in the top 15 by any major organization.

Skelton is ranked #13 by WBO.

So why should any of them get a title shot?

I do have to say that Skelton for all his shortcomings is a very hard trainer.

As i said before i don't begrudge Skelton his chance as he has at least fought some of the best guys available at British level but why McBride is on the verge of a title shot baffles me.
