Nah mate I think you're right.Kilburn wrote:I deleted the Khan v Molina program from my Sky box before I'd had chance to watch Diaz v Crawford.
I've always been a fan of Diaz and assumed he must have boxed very well to earn a draw in that fight, as Crawford seemed to be on the rise.
Khan v Diaz is not an especially good fight for the fans but surely not a terrible one? I sometimes get the impression that if Khan is not lined up to face a banger then a disproportionate amount of whinging ensues.. I could be wrong.
What I wish to complain about however is that Amir keeps fighting Latin dudes who are easy to confuse for other Latin dudes.
We've just had Carlos "No, not that Carlos Molina" Molina & now we've got Julio "You Remember, Not The Fat One, Got KO'd By The Fat One, You Remember Me, I've Got A 'Tache. Castillo Beat Me Fvcking Years Ago. Yes, that one!" Diaz.
It's almost too much for my seriously eroded memory to take, I tells ya...
PS: Diaz's punch resistance has been farked for years. Five stoppage losses if I remember rightly. This is a belt-notcher for sure rather than any kind of test, but what will happen is that it'll get the big build-up & the normal anti-Khan sentiment will come out the woodwork & the circus will begin on here again.
I blame George Groves.

Unless Khan loses he will probably stay where he is. It is an uninteresting fight.Pugilist-specialist wrote:This shows where Khan is at moving up to welter. Let's hope Horse's p4p ratings are adjusted accordingly.Horse wrote:Khan vs Diaz is trash.
Re: Khan Sheffield April 27th
They need a another couple big names on the bill at them prices.
Re: Khan Sheffield April 27th
Quite fancied this one, but not at those prices. Cant see it selling out TBH.
Re: Khan Sheffield April 27th
man what a rubbish opponent, if sky are showing this i would refuse the opponent
Re: Khan Sheffield April 27th
The other thing to bear in mind is the start time. Will it be on at peak time in America making it an obscure time here?
Personally I dont think it will sell & I think Khan will come out with his usual "thats it I wont fight in the UK again as they arent interested" again.

They dont. Hatton didnt sell out the Sheffield Arena in the next fight after Kostya.MachoMan09 wrote:Those prices look excessive to me. If they manage to sell them all, I'd be surprised. I'm sure they know better than me, though.

Re: Khan Sheffield April 27th
wow, those prices are seriously laughable. Out of interest, I had a look on the website and i couldn't actually find the zone for the £50 tickets. They were all minimum £75 and not many had been taken up (it is still early).
I can sense an injury in the build up

Re: Khan Sheffield April 27th
Same here nothing under 75, and with booking fee that's 80 quid plus for the cheapest ticket. Think Hearn was right about GoldenBoy not understanding the UK market, very deluded with those prices.

Re: Khan Sheffield April 27th
For Khan's World title challenge, against Kotelnik, i got £50 tickets for the upper tier as my friend was fighting Frankie Gavin on the undercard. When i got there, a steward was replacing the £50 tickets with a huge handful of lower tier £100 tickets. The top tier was completely curtained off. They were the best tickets i have ever had, better than ringside. How on earth they think this fight will do better is beyond me.jlh wrote:Same here nothing under 75, and with booking fee that's 80 quid plus for the cheapest ticket. Julio Diaz?! What a boring choice of opponent.. Shoulda rematched Prescott, he would've been a relatively easy/affordable opponent to get, tv and fans would've lapped it up.

Crawford? He's never boxed Crawford mate, think you might have your wires crossed.Kilburn wrote:I deleted the Khan v Molina program from my Sky box before I'd had chance to watch Diaz v Crawford.

Or you mean Shawn 'never been anything but a spar' Porter ?
He beat an out of shape Alfonso Gomez, but as solid as Alfonso is, he's not world class at all.
Diaz isnt as bad as people make out, but he is a bit flimsy - and is not a fashionable name. And the ticket prices will see the place half full.

Re: Khan Sheffield April 27th
I don't think this is a particularly bad match, but as some are rightly pointing out, it's not much of a headliner for a "massive" arena night, with those ticket prices. The undercard needs to be a bit special...
If anything, I think the match shows that despite the bold talk, Khan and his camp have realised he needs time to rebuild from the Peterson/Garcia defeats and get used to working with a new trainer.
Alternatively, they may just be offering shite money for the opposition and Diaz was one of the few willing to accept.

Tickets were allegedly given away in the days leading up to that fight.mickey1975 wrote:They dont. Clinton Woods boxed there twice and a lot of the arena was sectioned off which I expect will be the case for this fight.
Re: Khan Sheffield April 27th
tickets will not be sold out
its listed that sky are showing the fight
no way would i go at them prices
the only way you would get them, prices would be for khan v brook

Re: Khan Sheffield April 27th
pointless fight.no one other than khan fans will go this fight. how many fans has he got left? i seem to remember he was slagging the british fans off not so long ago ...now hes back with his tail between his legs , back to fighting poor quality opponents, looking to relieve the punters of their hard earned cash.
i think the sheffield punters should know their boxing , and wont be fooled . khan should prove he wants to fight the best by fighting olasegun ,mathysse peterson, bradley etc.

Haven't seen much of Diaz since Kendall Holt flattened him.
Poor opponent if you ask me but looks like theyre getting Amir back up there slowly but surely which is fair enough.
Cant see it selling brilliantly though

Leforge,
... Khan's demands too high and a crap opponent that won't pass Sky's qualitative test.
Just on a side note - who precisely is Promoting this ?
