You do know that the Bellew matter is very much still active ?
Hearn v Warren could be contender for fight of the year.

Oh he's Wazza till he dies, oh he's Wazza till he dies, he knows he is, he's sure he is, he's Wazza till he dies.
Anyone betting on his demise is foolish.

And it's silly; none of us knows the man and most have an unpleasant opinion. He does what every other boxing promoter in the worl does. Professional sport is a business and fair minded and charitable people do not go very far. There's no saying that things would be better for UK boxing if he decided to retire to an island paradise and leave it to Eddie Hearn - (fantastic and thoughtful interview with Hearn in yesterdays Guardian).

Contracts are one thing, but if a promoter were at some point top breach that contract, then the fighter would have a very strong case for wallking out.Parson Cross wrote:Contracts mate, contracts.
Re: Who Next to leave Franklyn Bunny House?
The idea that Warren is on the brink of collapse is almost laughable. My reading of the accounts situation (from the stories on the net and not any first hand reading of the source documents) is that his promotional company is in debt largely to its shareholders (ie, Warren himself), rather than to external creditors. Now given that Frank is highly unlikely to call in his own company's debts, administration is a while away. By heading down the allegedly route, Frank has effectively cut off the revenue generating potential of his promotional company in support of his investment in the TV company.
Maybe the issues with the boxers themselves (Bellew, Degale, Groves) stems from the limited money available for purses when there is no TV revenue (I have not read anything to suggest that allegedly is paying a fee to televise W.Promotions cards). For all the hatred for Sky and Hearn, Matchroom are receiving a fee from Sky for the rights to televise their promotions. The revenue that allegedly makes helps its shareholders (Warren et al) and does not go directly to the fighters.

Didn't a court determine that Bellew was legally entitled to walk out on his management contract with Warren? The ongoing legal situation relates to Bellews promotional contract with FWP. (at least as I understand it).keithmoonhangover wrote:Contracts are one thing, but if a promoter were at some point top breach that contract, then the fighter would have a very strong case for wallking out.Parson Cross wrote:Contracts mate, contracts.
I can't see there being a legal issue with Groves, given he has never been managed by Warren. It'll be a clear cut promotional situation.

I was talking about his other fighters.earsjohn wrote:Didn't a court determine that Bellew was legally entitled to walk out on his management contract with Warren? Re: Who Next to leave Franklyn Bunny House?
I know. But some contracts are easier to walk away from that others. I was trying to use Bellew as a classic example of one who was legally entitled to walk out on Warren (the manager) but is still caught up in a situation involving Warren (the Promoter)keithmoonhangover wrote:I was talking about his other fighters.earsjohn wrote:Didn't a court determine that Bellew was legally entitled to walk out on his management contract with Warren? If the shareholders and directors are major creditors then that should be disclosed in the accounts!earsjohn wrote:The idea that Warren is on the brink of collapse is almost laughable. As I said, i haven't seen the detail, but the stories I read suggested that was indeed the case.leforge wrote:If the shareholders and directors are major creditors then that should be disclosed in the accounts!earsjohn wrote:The idea that Warren is on the brink of collapse is almost laughable. Re: Who Next to leave Franklyn Bunny House?
Bellew is out of his Management Contract - but remember he still had to pay Wazza his percentage for all fights during the life of the Contract so let's be fair - it was a score draw.
Now Promotionally we are talking a whole different Contractual ball game.
Very much still ongoing between Wazza and Bellew.
Groves still has a Promotional Contract with Wazza ?
No one knows the detail other than those close to the fire and the devil lies in the detail.
Stand by .....

If the Burns fight is actually off. I would say Burns's chances of leaving Warren are increasing.

Re: Who Next to leave Franklyn Bunny House?
A fighter pulling out due to illness does not give a fighter the right to walk away from a contract

Tony does not and never did have to pay Warren a penny from the date of determination of his contract, 21st May 2012. He did have to pay a percentage for one fight which took place before he formally determined the contract, 21st. May 2012. The contract was due to end March 2013.
Re: Who Next to leave Franklyn Bunny House?
lol you're Rhodes's mate posting under a different name, still bitter Rhodes had to put up with FW's shit while Bellew got away practically unscathed as Rumpole confirmsParson Cross wrote:Bellew is out of his Management Contract - but remember he still had to pay Wazza his percentage for all fights during the life of the Contract so let's be fair - it was a score draw.

I dont know why people on here hate him so much. He's done a lot the last 6-7 years for british boxing. Sure his NOTW column was garbage which should have shamed the man, but in terms of giving the viewer somewhere to watch boxing allegedly has been greatParson Cross wrote:Oh he's Wazza till he dies, oh he's Wazza till he dies, he knows he is, he's sure he is, he's Wazza till he dies.

to people still watch Allegedly channel ?

Re: Who Next to leave Franklyn Bunny House?
I think of that scene, in Cinderella Man - where they go to the promoter's big fancy apartment, and shout about money at him - and he then let's them inside to the apartment and it's completely bare of anything. There is just a single chair in the corner. No furniture, no carpets and no money.
And he explains the cigar and the big car are to make everyone think he's successful and not to be messed with. In reality, he is bust. And if everyone knew that, he would be finished.
