Biggest Ticket selling/Hardcore following small hall boxers

Post by Looking On »

Who are thought of as the guys with a huge hardcore following ?

Im not talking about those on the cusp of titles etc , just those who either small hall or undercard boxers .

We regular hear people like bunce say boxer x has brough 4 coach loads of fans down to york hall etc etc

Just something i was talking about to someone as i know Leigh wood bangs out over 200 tickets at times which to me seems a phenomenal number for someone who in pro terms is still only a rookie, but im pretty sure ive heard of people doing close to 500 , which to me is insane if accurate .

Im talking pros here , not the unlicensed scene .

The lads at Sheffield Boxing Centre (Glyn Rhodes) are doing great.
Fantastic venue - Ice Sheffield - and Pioneer Promotions doing a good job.
Example Dave Fidler - 150 tickets and only in a 4 rounder on Friday.
However the chuckle brothers - Adam Etches and Scott Jenkins - take some beating, Adam in particular.
Never once failed to sell out on dinner shows.

There is a guy with Steve Wood that sells something like 800 - 900 tickets a fight. I am unsure of the name, I was just told this by the guys manager and Dave gibson

As stated by OP Leigh Wood can shift a few tickets .

I think im right in saying the lad who boxed on allegedly before from Halifax cant remember his name but had a similar name to another boxer , had done a massive amount , something stupid like 800 or so , and im pretty sure i read that Buglioni was a huge ticket seller too .

I think Leigh also told me that Etches is a big seller .

That would be Liam Walsh. He is quite a local celebrity he played Rugby League to a high standard & is quite well known in the area.
Currently mulling over whether to carry on or retire.

It depends where they are and what show they are on good ticket sellers will become tremendous ticket sellers on a big show.
Example don broadhurst is a good ticket seller maybe do 150 200 usualy when he was on a massive Khan bill in birmingham he shifted almost a 1000 tickets.
Same as Sean dodd above done ridiculous amounts of tickets on the david price against skelton, but on a smaller show liverpool show still did very very well but no where near the amount of a big status show.I think it will be the same for most hardworking ticket sellers when there is a big main event there ticket sales will treble.

Dodd's always done excellent apart from the December Aintree show where I beleive a large number of his followers were a little short due to the upcoming Christmas boom.

Easy to see why Dodd sells so well, he treats every single person as if they were his best friend. A credit to boxing.

Paul Butler and the other fighter from Ellesmere Port can't think of his name bring a huge following with them, the Olympia is always rocking when there fighting their. Frank Buglioni draws massive numbers aswell in a couple of years he could be London s most popular fighter. Joy Taylor shifts a fair few aswell

Buglioni does about 4/500 tickets. Good numbers, but not massive. A real old school ticket seller would sell out York Hall on their own.

I've not seen anyone fill it as much as Frank in a while and don't forget he's still only doing 6 rounders plenty of time for the numbers to increase when he starts fighting for titles
