Michael Sprott vs Robert Helenius: March 23rd

Post by Horse »

Livefight can reveal that Michael Sprott has put pen to paper to fight former European heavyweight champion Robert Helenius on March 23 at the GETEC Arena in Magdeburg, Germany.

The ten round non-title contest will appear on the undercard of the WBO super middleweight title rematch between current champion Arthur Abraham and former holder Robert Stieglitz, which will be screened live on allegedly in the UK.
Good fight.

Good match up. Michael Sprott is looking for another crack at either the European or British title while Helenius is angling for a world title shot or his old European title that he was made to vacate through injury after that mugging against Dereck Chisora so it is a good crossroads fights

I like Sprott, but he's gonna take a one sided beating and it's gonna be a painfull night.

Shot Sam Peter and shot Liakhovich were both level on the cards when Helenius sparked them. Chisora dominated Helenius. Sherman Williams took a round or two off him. What makes you think this will be a one sided beating?

I reckon Helenius takes a hometown decision.

He was carrying an injury against Chisora and was rusty against Williams. With all due respect to Michael, Peter and Liakhovich were better fighters going into that fight than Sprott is now.

Style wise, Sprott is custom made for Helenius. Helenius is too fast, powerful, fit, accurate and skilled for Sprott. Do you need more?

Sprott is very under rated. On a personal level he is one of the nicest people in the sport, a absolute gentleman. boxing ability, He's got very fast hands, great jab and good movement, his all round boxing brain and ability is alot better than the likes of Chisora who handed Helinius his arse and got robbed. This will all depend on whether Sprott is right mentally and if he turns up in survival mode or goes to win, which he's more than capable of doing. My fighter has recently done many rounds of sparring with Sprott in the last 6 months and I know he's in very good shape. Helinius is not the best IMO and only looks for one big shot, but also in saying that he has suffered terrible shoulder in jury's and needed operations so may have lost a bit of that power, and if Micheal can jab away at that shoulder area all night and cause some damage then Sprott could even end the fight early, I personally hope Micheal does the business and gets the win, he thoroughly deserves it and has the ability IMO.

Helenius is hardly too fast, fit, accurate, and skilled for Sprott. I'm not sure when Helenius has ever shown these qualities in greater abundance than Sprott has.

Helenius may, however, punch too hard for Sprott. Helenius can do a lot of damage when he lands cleanly, and I think the chances are high that he eventually catches and stops Sprott, with the bout probably being close when it ends.

I remember Harry Senior taking Sprott's zero. Shame he ended up with the detached retina. He could have mixed it regularly with Williams, Skelton and Francis.

The jury is a little bit out at the moment with Helenius. The guys bubble may have burst with the Chisora fight.

Sherman Williams rocked Helenius, so, you never know, but ultimately I think Sprott will be KOd or pull out on his stool. That Dimitrenko fight was there for him to win but he didn't really go for it. Can't see him doing it here, I think he's too far past it.

My thoughts too but I would love to see him pull it off! Been a fan of Sprott ever since I saw him get robbed in Germany against Timo Hoffmann.
