And now the fights I really want to see form SKY are PPV?k

Froch deserves every penny he can get, but what am I paying SKY for each month?

I will cancel SKY and re-instate it when the fights are PPV if they are worth it.

(Once the season stops I will cancel and re-instate).

And if every fan would happily pay for every channel going, and happily pay for ppv, some greedy promoter would conjur up a further way of extracting money from the fans.

Eddie Hearn would say (I saw him talking about making Froch / Kessler in an interview recently) that PPV is the only way to raise enough money to pay both fighters.

Putting aside the notion that Eddie would happily run the show just on a break even basis, that means if you as a fan are pissed off with ppv, it means you're not happy that the boxers are getting so much money in purses.

So the question is, do we think Froch and Kessler are greedy ? The topic accuses the promoter and the tv company for being greedy, but most of the money is going to the boxers (and most of that to Kessler, apparently).

Thats not an easy one to answer. These two guys are warriors.

If promoters think they can charge fans for any number of channels well..fornicate 'em all! £10 here and there may not be a lot but but it soon adds up. allegedly-£120 a year, Sky Sports ??? a year, Primetime ??? a year, ESPN ??? a year.

When they all get their act together and show more boxing I'll start paying. I'm happy to fork out £50 a month if they showed EVERY World title fight, EVERY European fight, EVERY OPBF fight and everything of significance. There are 3 world title fights this coming weekend (in mens boxing, think another 3 in female boxing) as far as I'm aware only 1 is being shown on British TV, only 2 of 5 male title fights were shown last week (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) and none of the female title fights.

It has been rumoured that Kessler is receiving £2 million and if so, Froch would surely get the same at the very least. Despite their multiple champion tag both have had an opportunity to prove themselves as #1 and both failed (in the Super Six and also Kessler's unification fight with Calzaghe.) We bought into the Super Six, what with Sky telling us this was going to clear up the division and Hearn telling us it was leaving the politics out of boxing. On the way to winning it Andre Ward easily beat both Froch and Kessler and proved himself a worthy #1 (further cemented by Froch's defeat of Lucien Bute.)
Yet here we have a fight using a unification world title tag to help sell it to the masses. For that and if they are true to their rules (and they often aren't) the two alphabet bodies involved will each take 3% form each champion and a further 2% in each champion's role as challenger (this may even be 3%?) If it's the former then that is a £200,000 bill alone from the boxers to be paid to the alphabets for their recognition of a fight as a world championship that should never be.
Without the 'unification', 'multiple champion' world title dressing (and of course Kessler's belt only exists because Ward became a unified champion in beating Froch) would Sky have attempted to sell this as PPV? Do they think they could have sold it to the oh so important casual fans on the back of it being two 'warriors' meeting again in a rematch of a great first fight? I doubt it.
To me, we are in effect paying Sky to pay the alphabet boys to help sell the fight as PPV...and it utterly stinks.

As its FROCH - I will pay this time, but the rest of the stable? No chance!

Froch is my knid of fighter, but SKY/MATCHROOM need to revise this PPV lark.
