I don't know why it is, but fights/events on Facebook just doesn't work at all.

I still haven't seen any evidence that anyone had ever drawn money using social media.
When did the UFC stop the prelims on Facebook?

Must have been quite recently considering the UFC card on the 16th of February was aired on Facebook.

Your original post was making a difference in terms of crowd attendance or TV viewers - not directly that you can draw money from social media.

I bet if you were to go out on a high-street in Britain and ask the question; have you heard of Tyson Fury against have you heard of David Price. The answer would be greater for Tyson Fury. And the majority of that would be from his Twitter rants.
My mistake, I had thought the facebook fights had been stopped after the FOX deal, I remember Dana White talking about it.

Hmmm, forget it then.

I have a friend who's job it is to "promote" things on Facebook. He is very good and gets lots of "likes" but I don't see how any revenue is generated.

Was just browsing Twitter a moment ago and noticed a tweet from @miketyson about his 'Undisputed Truth' show. This prompted me to look into whether he happened to be in New York during the few days I'm there in April. He is, so I bought a couple of tickets.

So not strictly answering the OP but without twitter (and Tyson's active twitter promotion) those tickets would be unsold right now.

It'll probably be a bit rubbish, I know!

A fighter I looked after sold less than 10 tickets for a good profile fight on a quality 'arena bill'. I took him over after that and got him using Facebook and twitter with over 1,000 followers and for his next outing he sold over 200 tickets.

of course it will be ,no reason for slap to lie.

as you may know i do the prospect boxing facebook/Twutter and it def helps. For example we have had guys ring the office to buy tickets via debit/credit cards -this is really only ever been communicated by our tw/fb page ... not maybe significant number but it all helps ...i think its a good tool for getting info out about bouts and changes etc .. just my two cents :bag:

To quite George Smiley "there was every reason..."

Everyone lies about their achievements and statistics on the Internet.

I mean how many times have we all met some guy in a motorway lay by who claimed he was 'VVWE' on his craigslist ad, but turned out only to be 'WE' in the flesh?

that's just life man.

There. I think that's tied up all the loose ends of this thread.

Er, yes!

Both were on Matchroom bills so why I would risk sounding like a complete bullshitter when there's third parties out there that use this site that know the facts.

The twitter and Facebook stirred up interest and generated ticket sales, his local papers noticed this and jumped on the back of it - it was like whatever is the positive version of a vicious circle.

To be fair Ronnie"The Shark"Clark has went from 400 likes to almost 1300 and his fan base is growing every day. He had in excess of 400 fans at his fight there at the Caird Hall.. This is a correct tool if used in the correct way.

The best way is too ask all your friends already on the page to share with all there friends.. Offer some sort of prize.. We offered things like T-Shirts and complimentary tickets to his next fight.. The 1000 member got a T-Shirt and we done a draw for 4 or 5 tickets can't remember how many..

Plus there is always something interesting going on on his page.. So people are always sharing the photos, video links and quotes..

A genetic flaw :salut: those poor bastards get zero sympathy from me.
