How's Jamie Robinson (ex Newco Repton) getting on?

Post by palooka »

Does anyone know anything about Robinson? I was looking through some old boxing news (19891991) and Robinson was a very good amateur, in championships etc and well thought of. I don't think he won an ABA title or turn professional.

Can anyone fill in the blanks please?

There are a couple of boxers with that name on Boxrec's lists-use the search option

I boxed a Jamie Robinson from Repton 2 years running in the Schoolboys 1982-83. We were 13-14 years old. If that's the lad you are on about he won a few national junior titles and did have some pro fights in the UK and the states, but I don't recall him winning any professional titles.

Jamie was a good amateur as said but i always thought he was a strong schoolboy/junior and never really pushed on as a senior or pro. Having said that i remember a quote from his dad saying "nobody ever nipped to the bar while Jamie was boxing!". At the end of the day titles are what you dream of but JR had a decent career am/pro. Good fighter. :box:
