I just ordered online, these collections are all well and good for the first few editions but they tend to slacken off and disappear from the shelves as the series wears on so at least i will be guaranteed my copies
after the first six issues you have to order them from the newsagent or subscribe. newsagent can't cancel after six issues and tend to get lumped with them when the tyson and ali huggers aren't bothered anymore
Yeah but tare these the full orginal versions or all those crappy thrown together edited mixed up ESPN classic versions or 'new added commentary' etc????
Magazines like these tend to be aimed at the younger enthusiast and add no more than we already know, or should know.
The same old biased views of the old favourites and not a mention of the more interesting characters.
Much better to buy a good boxing encyclopedia by a well known author.

Ive still got the complete collection of videos and mags when it was originally issued about 10 years ago.
Some great stuff though some of the fights are spolied by the fact they are cut to pieces, showing very little.
But the most annoying things is that while a lot of them have original commentary a lot of them have some commentator sitting in a studio in the modern day pretending hes actually there.
I think they should bring in guest commentators for these special DVDs. Imagine Joe Pasquale commentating on Hagler - Hearns......thats the only thing that could make that fight better.
i think i will order it online, looks like you got more free stuff like a book binder.
order it online you get with issue
1, free book binder
2, Free DVD storage box
3, Free DVD
4, Free when we were kings dvd.
Oh i sound like a saleman hopefully i will get free stuff
I take it this is the same as the video 'Boxers' collection that was out a few years back but now on DVD not VHS? If so there are 72 to collect and at £7 a go that will add up to a lot of dosh.......from memory the magazines are quite short. :(
the clay-liston on the DVD is worse than the vhs, and the ali-foreman is no better than the boxers video. this collection is really rushed and tacky. at least the marshall cavendish felt like quality. utter shite, naff rerun
I have the old collection on video as well, If the quality of these new dvd's was any good I'd probably get some more, they were supposed to be digitally enhanced but my video versions from years ago are better quality than these so I don't think I'll bother.

75 actually. There were also 3 'special' editions
Solid Gold, about olympic champs who went on to be world champs
The Fabulous Four, about Hagler, Hearns, Duran and Leonard
and The Ultimate Prize, which is basically the 2 fights between Ali and Spinks.
I think there are only 20 magazines in this series, which will be out fortnightly, and they'll be (I believe):
01. Muhammad Ali 1
02. Mike Tyson
03. Rocky Marciano
04. Joe Frazier
05. Roberto Duran
06. Jake La Motta
07. Muhammad Ali 2
08. Joe Louis
09. Larry Holmes
10. Heavyweights
11. Olympic Champions
12. Sugar Ray Robinson
13. Tommy Hearns
14. Sonny Liston
15. Henry Armstrong
16. Great Britons
17. Jack Johnson
18. Power Punchers
19. Jack Dempsey
20. Welterweight Fights
This is just from looking at the completed storage case which is advertised as a free gift. There maybe more, I am not sure. I wasn't even born when the last 'Boxers' magazines were around so am not 100% sure if there will be the full 72/75.
Henry Cooper is mentioned in the advert so he may well have his own DVD which would mean there would be more than 20 unless he is included in the Great Britons set. I think the name Lewis is mentioned too, which could mean Lewis (Ted or Lennox) or more likely Louis (Joe).
Is this series just a rerun of the Boxers video series by Marshall Cavendish? I am guessing yes as the same fights are on each boxers DVD.

Thats what I assume. I have the full set on VHS so really dont know if I can justify getting them all again on DVD.
