Or would Page be too fast and cute for the robotic Klitschko and dismantle him like he did Coetzee?
Vitali Klitschko.

Greg Page.

I'll go with this ending. While Klit is a bit more skilled than Coezee, at his best he was VERY fast and could punch a bit as well. Certainly faster than anyone Klit has ever seen.KOJOE90 wrote:Or would Page be too fast and cute for the robotic Klitschko and dismantle him like he did Coetzee?
At that time, Greg was shot, though not taking anything from Bugner, he beat Bonecrusher also.mercman wrote:I'm afraid I disagree. I think Vitali wins. It may be unfashionable but I think Vitali is underrated. I think he is too big, strong and well conditioned for Page. Vitali has a strong jab and also has better skill than he is given credit for.
Page may have been fast but I remember him losing to a 1980s version Joe Bugner. Bugner outboxed him and won it with the jab.

It all depends on which Greg shows up, and that a big if factor here.mercman wrote:Good point. Memory/ sentimentality can make us forget past fighters flaws and weaknesses. The more I think about it the more I favour Vitali. To be honest I see Page as part of the fashion for fat heavyweights that started in the '80s.
When exactly did I say Klitschko EVER FOUGHT on the inside?overhand_right wrote:When exactly has Klitschko EVER fought on the inside?KOJOE90 wrote:Would Klitschko be too big and strong on the inside :

Truthfully, I think that may be what's hurting him when people ask for help in his cause.Ezzard wrote:BBBrocktonBlockbuster49 wrote:ezzard i agree with ur assessment lol. i however dont think much of vitali either, id say its a toss up with either one winning a boring decision
Vitali isn't great but he makes the best of what talent he's got. Boxing has its share of mediocre champs. I think that's fair enough.
Vitali has some pride in being champion and always looks interested. At times Page just seemd to jiggle about and throw as few punches as possible. Page had the talent but not the application.
To me being HW champion is as good as it gets. I want the champ to at least looks like he means business. Page's attitude still bothers me today.
sorry, Nile, you've lost me...Nile4000 wrote:Truthfully, I think that may be what's hurting him when people ask for help in his cause.Ezzard wrote:BBBrocktonBlockbuster49 wrote:ezzard i agree with ur assessment lol. i however dont think much of vitali either, id say its a toss up with either one winning a boring decision

Sorry.Ezzard, basically what I was saying is that when people look at his situation today as concerning his injury, they may think back on his career and how it unfolded. He did screw up a lot of years being overweight and unmotivated, and of all the heavies of that time period, was probably the most talented.Several people may feel that, " hey, why should I help this guy when he squandered it away.". I can understand your comment about his attitude, it was ridiculous.Ezzard wrote:sorry, Nile, you've lost me...Nile4000 wrote:Truthfully, I think that may be what's hurting him when people ask for help in his cause.Ezzard wrote: BB

True, but Page has had bad habits since the beginning of his pro career.overhand_right wrote:If Klitschko was hassled, abused and routinely underpaid by his promoter/maanager/task master to the point where he was fighting for chump change then he would also have a lot of on & off performances just like Page.
Page at his best had endless natural talent whereas Klitschko has shown none. Hes just a big awkward strong guy whos ruling over a dead division.
If Page was around today he would be untouchable.
The people who criticise Page, Tubbs, Witherspoon etc are complete hypocrites there is no way they would give 100% to a job as painful as boxing if they were not getting paid.
