Enoughs Enough.
Enoughs Enough.
All of the ridiculous bashing of allegedly and its promoter.
Fairs fair theyve been bringing some excellent overseas fights and really been the best at matching hard in the UK. You cant blame Frank forever for the way he used to promote back in 2000-2005 on his weekly sky shows. Since than he has upped the game and always puts on stacked cards no other promoter in the UK can or will do that.
I dont see the Groves or Burns moves as a good thing. Frankly i think Burns in particular should be more grateful.
But the way people are crooning on about the demise of Warren its almost as if they hate him its ridiculous, especially as apart from his column in the NOTW which frankly i think was slightly tongue in cheek, Warren has always been a fair man.
Yes Hearn innovated prizefighter and we had that great night Froch-Bute but that was all down to Carl wanting that fight. Not any sign of intent from hearn to match hard like warren has.

Warren has always been a fair man ?
Are you having a laugh ?
Anyway aside from that it may come as a surprise that I do agree to an extent that his bashing has gone a bit over the top.
However I bet you the first man who expected it was Warren himself.
Live by the sword die by it etc.
All be chip paper in six months.

...can you name the last...lets say 5 stacked Warren cards, try to make sure there is at least 1 60-40 style match up in there...

Re: Enoughs Enough.
Warren has not been a fair man, a high court judge found - after a lengthy court case - that warren's company owed Joe Calzaghe £1.8m. Joe is still waiting.
Think about that for a moment - the money went into the promotion, in the form of revenue from tickets and TV money - but it didn't come out of the other end for Joe. It disappeared somewhere in the middle. If the company went bust with no assets or money in the bank, the income from that fight (Calzaghe vs Hopkins) must have reduced the debt owed by the company... reduced it, but not wiping it out as the company went into administration.
So this shyster had a struggling company, and was happy for Joe's purse to get swallowed up by the debts of his company. He knew he owed Joe the purse, tried to fight it, lost the court case, and wound up the company. That is not fair by any stretch of the imagination. He is the first to take umbrage when somebody slights him....

If someone can be bothered they could probably think of at least 15-20 shows over the yearsBoxing Prospect wrote:...can you name the last...lets say 5 stacked Warren cards, try to make sure there is at least 1 60-40 style match up in there...

Just 15-20 in his years? Sort of proves what I was getting at as that's less than 1 a year. If you were to do the last few years I think you'd struggle to come up with 5 stacked ones this decade@markmcgee87 wrote:If someone can be bothered they could probably think of at least 15-20 shows over the yearsBoxing Prospect wrote:...can you name the last...lets say 5 stacked Warren cards, try to make sure there is at least 1 60-40 style match up in there...
Re: Enoughs Enough.
come on guys
didn't he preside over the Hatton and MEN era.
Gomez in a pick 'em fight
Arnie in a war
Ricky of course
Calzaghe
Wayne Alexander
so many names
and all within last 10 years I think (at most 15 yrs not looking at the dates)
Like everything it (boxing promoting) always goes in cycles.
Warren or someone else will get the baton from MR at some point
Nothing is forever, and never is it so true as in the boxing game

I wouldn`t say Fair is a word that one usually uses in the same sentence as Allegedly. Cunning, clever and Cocksure maybe, but not fair.
He appeals to me though. the guy has made a small fortune in one of the toughest games around. He knows his stuff and I would never write the guy off.
Plus he delievers quality boxing to my TV for only £10 per month (far better value than the shat that Sky have been serving up of late) That last SKY card was about as competitive as Ronnie Corbett in an outdoor high jump competition.

A lot of you forget what there was before him........Duff,Barrett, Astaire...one of you mentioned "shysters"...theres 3 of them right there for you... the way fighters were screwed by the likes of them pales into comparison with a legal dispute Warren might have had with a guy who he promoted to success most of his career in Calzaghe.....Warren and Hearn snr were able to somehow exist side by side, so Hearn jnr and Warren ought to be able to as well.doctorboxing wrote:I think you might find a fair few boxers who disagree with youmugabi wrote:Warren has always been a fair man.
As for stacked cards well the latest burns one which he pulled out of was one example right there and if i really had time to state the bleeding obvious i could mention another 10-15 the last 5 years alone.

I agree - not saying it is right, but if it isn't Warren it will be someone else that is for sure.mugabi wrote: A lot of you forget what there was before him........Duff,Barrett, Astaire...one
I am sure it was Larry Holmes who was the only top boxer not to sue Don King, not because he was daft (he knew he was getting ripped off) but he went into the relationship with his eyes open, knowing that he was going to get ripped off ! (I am sure he was the one who said "50% of something is better than 100% of nothing").

Fwank is a wrongun and is reaping what he has sowed .
He is a knocker and has used his position as Britain's Mr Boxing to serve his own purposes and cause damage to countless boxers careers .Never using his once considerable power to serve the sport.
He is majorily responsible for the stagnation in British boxing and now the rebellion is in full flow he is whining and making threats .Khan has found a fitting home on the sinking ship Allegedly.
Shut the door on your way out Frank your bullying ways are tiresome you can no longer afford the court battles.
The games up good riddance

A few years ago, He promoted most of my Fighters.Paid the most money, and the Fighters always got Paid on Time. Ive seen numerous occasions, where He has Helped Fighters out Financially, without return. Always found Him truthful in my dealings with Him. Theres more Fighters had Him over, than Him them.
He is going through a Bad patch, Bet He comes through it.

Yes Warren broke the cartel, no doubt, and they screwed their fighters, no doubt, I learnt that talking to Charlie Magri whilst researching to write his book, the poor guy was paid peanuts for fights where he sold out the albert hall again and again. Warren paid him the highest purse of his career, after he lost his world title.mugabi wrote:A lot of you forget what there was before him........Duff,Barrett, Astaire...one of you mentioned "shysters"...theres 3 of them right there for you... the way fighters were screwed by the likes of them pales into comparison with a legal dispute Warren might have had with a guy who he promoted to success most of his career in Calzaghe.....Warren and Hearn snr were able to somehow exist side by side, so Hearn jnr and Warren ought to be able to as well.doctorboxing wrote:I think you might find a fair few boxers who disagree with youmugabi wrote:Warren has always been a fair man.

However, once Warren became the predominant force, and especially during his years of monopoly with sky, the quality dropped off, and there were some awful mistmatches.
It is perhaps a symptom of those at the top, and I for one am glad that the Hearn clan have stepped into the fray to challenge Warren, it is definitely good for the sport.

The quote was along the lines of 'I get paid more being ripped off by Don, than I can get being dealt a fair hand by anyone else.'

An ex pro i used to know always said the same thing about FW. He gets the best deals behind the scenes for his fighters and knows how to get people interested in his shows.
All these other 'promoters' who keep going on about "Bringing boxing back to the fans, making fights the fans want to see" actually do the opposite. Although most people here are to stupid to realise it.

Hearn has to show he can make a star, which FW certainly knows how to do.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Yes Warren broke the cartel, no doubt, and they screwed their fighters, no doubt, I learnt that talking to Charlie Magri whilst researching to write his book, the poor guy was paid peanuts for fights where he sold out the albert hall again and again. With King, Tyson got 30 million a fight, then they had their split and court case etc and Tyson got free of his contract.
In his next fight Tyson got paid something like 8 million.

Re: Enoughs Enough.
That's often the problem though. Very often FW advertises great cards and sell a load of tickets before pull outs/call offs decimate the show and fans don't get refunds as "cards are subject to change". Of course, there has been some great cards and fights he has put on over the years but he is a boxing promoter, that is his job.mugabi wrote: As for stacked cards well the latest burns one which he pulled out of was one example right there and if i really had time to state the bleeding obvious i could mention another 10-15 the last 5 years alone.
Threats of legal proceedings over the years haven't made him a huge amount of friends either.
