Is it me or is the WBA title the sh1ttest of the big 3 titles. I was looking at there list of champions and rankings sad I know and noticed that there aren't really any fighters there appart from in cases where titles have been unified who are the best at that weight.

If you think about it even the IBO have Tarver at light heavy.

IMO WBA has the best (non unified) champs at 105, 108, 115 and 122 + if you look at it WBA is part of all the unified divisions.

WBA is worst of the three for me, on the basis of the starting the emeritus shit as josh says - Maselino Masoe world Middleweight champ eh? - piss off.

Then there's stuff such as not even blinking an eye when King starts talking about Ruiz-McBride. Are you serious?

The IBF for me are too lazy with their rankings. There's the Leavander incident for one, then the fact that they've got a load of #1 and #2 spots missing - how can they make Byrd a 'champion' when they can't even make him fight once in a whole year?

And then there's corruption, and saying one of the three is less corrupt than the other is like saying Silk Cut Ultras are healthier than Benson and Hedges.

IBO are decent enough. They've got the objective rankings, the top #35 opponent stipulation. They know Tarver isn't really their champ though, it was just a conveniant 'symbolic' to parade after the Johnson fight. Saying that, I liked to think of it as a symbol of anti-corruption and a break from the stranglehold of corrupt and domineering sanc bodies. Then Tarver goes and adds the NBA title for the Jones fight. Righty ho then...

The french federation have done something clever. If you want to use the words "world championship" for a fight you have to pay a tax, so from now on theere will be a lot of "International championships" in France instead of world championships.

This may appear in a thread on its own right later, but I've just seen Taylor has had to drop the IBF title in order to keep the Hopkins rematch possible.

That is just absolute greed and stupidity on the part of the IBF.

Taylor has to vacate the IBF title in order to get the Hopkins rematch, otherwise the IBF would have made him fight a mandatory. Surely it's commonsense on part of all the sanctioning bodies to realise that Taylor-Hopkins is THE fight of the middle weight div. Everyone knows it's for the unidsputed crown, everyone knows it was close the last time. Why on earth can't the IBF just let the rematch happen without dragging up mandatories?

From a Boxingtalk.com interview with DiBella: Taylor's promoter, Lou DiBella wrote to the IBF saying, "pressure with respect to multiple mandatories and the payment of 12% of his purses in sanctioning fees makes retaining all the titles a near impossible proposition."
