How are matchroom going to keep ALL there fighters busy??
How are matchroom going to keep ALL there fighters busy??
With frank slipping out of play. Hearn has no real competition unless Hennessy start securing more dates which hasn't been the case in recent times.
Could fighters start been paid less & fighting more?? Fans getting stacked bonanza bills with prospects battling it out??
Will frank keep hold off his tv company & start giving smaller promoters dates & do business that way???
Is Hearn don king in disguise!
Boxings Dana white?
I know many snooker players hate hearns hold & pawning of them.will this soon be the case for fighters??
Intresting times ahead

I think the rumours of FW's demise have been greatly exaggerated. I think hearns problem is going to be who is he going match his fighters against he only seems to know lou di bella. Goldenboy, hatton promotions, maloney, K2 all seem to be on terms with b0nation.hurlock wrote:With frank slipping out of play. Hearns overheads are going to be huge. He is overloading & frank knows his ship will be sinking with plenty going overboard .
Golden boy do business with everyone but they take the lion share which most business men don't like seeing when there investment can be crushed.
Personally I hope good comes out of it for fans & mainly the sport. I would love to see British boxing being lucrative with the Lonsdale being prestigious as it was with good purses & plenty of intrest

Re: How are matchroom going to keep ALL there fighters busy??
Matchroom should have plenty of air time to keep their fighters busy.
As we know they have 20 live dates on SKY but will use about 5 of them for Prizefighter. That leaves Matchroom with 15 shows which are now 3 hours and 30 minutes long. That's enough time for 3 or 4 live fights each event. So you're easily looking at 45 to 60 slots in those shows alone. Matchroom have made slots available on Prizefighter recently for their younger talent to get an outing such as Yafai and Stalker, which creates another 5 slots for fights each year. Also now they've moved to PPV that creates even more slots. Don't forget Matchroom might also get some of their talent on "away" fight cards likes Brook Vs. Alexander.
All in you're looking at potentially 70 slots per year that Matchroom will be looking to fill. That's enough for all of their stable to get out 3 times per year if they wanted too. Guys like Froch and Rees might only fight twice which means some of their younger talent can be out 6 or 8 times in 12 months without causing too much friction.
Let's just hope they are able to pay all their talent on time

I wonder if those will be 3 hour arena shows too or the classic 2 hour York Hall format that we've had on SKY for years? I'd like to have more regular shows on SKY. I feel there is too big of a gap between each event. Sometimes it's about 3 weeks. That's not regular enough for me personally.Parson Cross wrote:He's also asked Sky for an extra 10 shows

At the risk of taking the thread into a discussion about snooker; no professional can have any complaints with Matchroom, they were approached by the players to sort the state of the professional game out. They now moan about having to play a tournament every week but yet before they were moaning that they couldn't make ends meet.

Agreed. Snooker would have fallen into the abyss many years ago, were it not for Barry Hearn.MarkMcBurney wrote:At the risk of taking the thread into a discussion about snooker; no professional can have any complaints with Matchroom, they were approached by the players to sort the state of the professional game out.
