So basically not a unification, just a way for the IBF to earn sanctioning fees as the winner will be champion for one second. A title fight where the winner is not the champion of that title! If you're gonna strip the man just do it!Froch is still IBF champion only for the sake of classifying the rematch with Kessler as a unification bout. The winner will be stripped of the title immediately after

Crocked organisations pissing everyone off
Re: Crocked organisations pissing everyone off
Also, let's get this right, it's not a genuine unification either, Kessler is not the proper WBA champion, Ward is.

Adonis Stevenson is mandatoryThe Dark Destroyer wrote:This fight doesn't need titles. All the baubles do is attract some fans who see phrases like 'world champion' 'unification' and think it makes the bout a bigger deal.
Why is the winner getting stripped of the IBF?

Nope Stevenson is set to fight for the vacant titleThe Dark Destroyer wrote:So? I thought they had a delay in that mandatory fight for Froch to fight Kessler? Are they going to be stripped or does the winner have the option to fight Stevenson? If not I'd throw that title in the bin so they didn't get a penny for it.danconnollyeire wrote:Adonis Stevenson is mandatoryThe Dark Destroyer wrote:This fight doesn't need titles. Because they are crocked... yep and Stevenson looks set to fight Dawson so the IBF won't have a champ... Describes it at the bottom of this reportThe Dark Destroyer wrote:Are you sure? He's got a fight on the 22nd of this month, why would they strip the champion without giving him the opportunity to fight Stevenson?danconnollyeire wrote:

crocked and crooked
there's a thread somewhere stating that the WBA has something like 30 odd world champions. WTF!
Titles mean selling of tickets = monies for boxers (hopefully) but at World level.....can I ask, if you all look at the Ring magazine and take their rankings to base your opinions, or do we all just base our views on personal or regional bias (like the orgs seem to do). for example. Povetkin is a World Champion...no he fvkin isn't.
Somewhere somehow, as far as "The World Champion" goes. there should only be one per category. We all know it, but what will it take.
Will it take a new consortium to rip up the rule book, and drive these self serving orgs into extinction?
I guess it will never happen, as corruption goes hand in hand in an industry where the monies involved can be astronomical at the top.
I've never seen the days where everyone knew who The Man was in EACH division. I tell me old fella that nowerdays we get more big fights and more entertainment.
He tells me I talk bollx....Aint that the truth

...so Juanma v Gamboa wouldn't have been a unification because of John?Dead Mouse wrote:This was never a proper unification as the WBA belt on the line is a hand-me-down and Ward is still considered their "real" champion. No, I don't understand most of this page, either, but it makes a bit of sense if you look at their gallery of "champions".
Trout v Canelo won't be a unification because of Floyd?
In regards to links, this is more interesting imo

Re: Crocked organisations pissing everyone off
I think the IBF is more to the point than the WBA. Froch IS the champion and defending the belt apparently for the sake for the unification and being stripped immediatelt afterwards. So basically the IBF are making $$£$£$£$£$£$ and then saying "Nah you can't break our rules". It's a jokeiamasadlittleboy wrote:...so Juanma v Gamboa wouldn't have been a unification because of John?Dead Mouse wrote:This was never a proper unification as the WBA belt on the line is a hand-me-down and Ward is still considered their "real" champion. I don't really see Sky and Hearn making this PPV without the alphabet titles to promote it. This is costing us fans and what's more won't we be the ones's paying for the privilege of picking up the bill for the massive sanctioning fees that are passed on down the line?
Re: Crocked organisations pissing everyone off
Groves vs Degale was PPV and for what, domestic belts?
Belts mean nothing at the end of the day.
Belts mean nothing at the end of the day.
Re: Crocked organisations pissing everyone off
Does the money generated by having a fight sanctioned by one of the various bodies outweigh the fees paid for the privilege of fighting for one of their belts?

If you really want to get annoyed, currently the WBA has 36 reigning world champions in 17 divisions.
