Thoughts? It's official - Lucas Big Daddy Browne will take on three-division world champion and future Hall of Famer James "Lights Out" Toney in the biggest heavyweight fight Australia has seen in years.
Don't miss any of the action from the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on Sunday April 28th.
Lucas Browne vs James Toney
Lucas Browne vs James Toney
Its apparently been set.
Re: Lucas Browne vs James Toney
Big Daddy by KO.
Re: Lucas Browne vs James Toney
Biggest Heavyweight fight in Australia in years.......are they reffering to the combined weights of the 2 fighters??
D
Sorry couldnt help a dig, directed at Toney as Browne who is a big man generally from what I have seen comes in shape!
Nice name to add to the resume, thats of course if Browne wins which if he doesnt then .........that would be a shock. James has nothing left, other than a good chin which has held him up most of his career, and a tougher defence to penertrate that what Lucas has been used to recently. But James has lost everything else and never had power at heavyweight to change a fight either.

As you said, nice name to add to the resume. That is what this fight is all about for Browne. Even if he takes out a way past prime Toney the people will hear about it.N2 Shape wrote:Biggest Heavyweight fight in Australia in years.......are they reffering to the combined weights of the 2 fighters??D

Does this mean Browne is not fighting Egobi?

I'm sure they will. They only announced the Toney fight officially this morning.Brute wrote:Then somebody should change the schedule.

Big Daddy has confirmed it on his twitter site.
Possible Haumono will fight McCall on same card.

Egobi has been moved onto the undercard of Browne v Toney. Have heard Nathan Briggs name mentioned for Egobi but not sure if there is any truth in it.Brute wrote:Does this mean Browne is not fighting Egobi?
Re: Lucas Browne vs James Toney
"Nasty Boy" Briggs has not fought in four years. Can't see it happening.

He's had some issues the last few years but his name has been mentioned. Unlikely but who knows?Brute wrote:"Nasty Boy" Briggs has not fought in four years. Can't see it happening.

Clarence Tillman now being mentioned as the new opponent.

Don't be facetious!TrainInsane wrote:Clarence Tillman now being mentioned as the new opponent.
Good Lord, he is fighting Egobi, Elijah McCall is also on the program with unnamed opponent.

This should be a great fight night if no one pulls out.

Clarence Tillman now being mentioned as the new opponent...for Egobi instead of Briggs is what I meant...can't believe you saw it differentlyBrute wrote:Don't be facetious!TrainInsane wrote:Clarence Tillman now being mentioned as the new opponent.

Re: Lucas Browne vs James Toney
What are you talking about? I am surprised Tillman is fighting Egobi and know you suggested Nathan Briggs to fight Egobi. I still think Tillman is a waste of space.
Wonder who McCall junior will fight?

Have u heard Toney speak recently? Shocker
Re: Lucas Browne vs James Toney
I wonder if in time, all Oz regulators follow South Australia & make MRI mandatory for their registered punchers & visitors? All A OK is valid for 3 years. This also applies to other combat codes.Grant wrote:Have u heard Toney speak recently? Shocker

Re: Lucas Browne vs James Toney
Don't be at all surprised if this fight doesn't come off, it's one thing to offer Lucas Brown a good fight with a fair purse, of which a warrior like Brown would jump at, it's another thing to talk the promotion company into a dangerous fight for one of their fighters without any $ heading in their direction.

I said I'd heard Briggs' name 'mentioned'. Not that it was any kind of certainty to happen. Read it a little more closely this timeBrute wrote:What are you talking about? Toney was unintelligible in the 90s.Grant wrote:Have u heard Toney speak recently? Shocker
Re: Lucas Browne vs James Toney
Toney's recent video interviews need subtitles for one to understand what he's saying as they watch; his slurring is terrible, and it has definitely gotten worse over the past few years.

Americans have trouble understanding us.
Re: Lucas Browne vs James Toney
Yanks have trouble understanding full stop. e.g. Most think Oztrelia is a little island in middle of Atlantic Ocean....not to mention planet earth is flat. :PBrute wrote:Americans have trouble understanding us.
