Ashley Sexton v Martin Power

Post by HellraiserBoxing »

Had a chat with Martin Power the other day and he sounds keen to fight Ashley Sexton. Ash just got stopped in a great scrap last week against a very good EBU Champion in Stephane Jamoye but would no doubt be keen to have it too.

I think I remember there being some grudge between these two previously. Plus I reckon it would probably make sense for both of them as whoever won it would be right back in the mix. I might put it on at either York Hall or the Camden Centre. It has a lot of the ingredients that I look for when putting a good small hall top of the bill fight together. Bitter rivals, two fighters who aren't afraid to come forward, plenty of motivation from each of them to win, plus north London bragging rights.

Yes, would really like to see this fight.

Sorry to change subject a bit but wasn't Ashey's fight against Jamoye supposed to be shown on ESPN this week? Have I missed it?

Sorry to be the dissenting voice, but Martin Power is done. He was a very good fighter a long time ago, but his punch resistance is next to nothing these days. It might make sense to nostalgists, noobs and promoters, but to people that know the game it's a silly idea. But 95% of fights are silly, so why not? If both guys are game and can make a few quid, who's to say no? Not I.

Sexton by KO, around the midpoint.

Could well be last chance saloon for Martin, looking at his last loss to Satchell it dosent look to bad now, seeing how far Satchell has come on since then..Inactivaty could be the key in this fight,Sexton will be buzzing for this id have thought after a gallant performance against Jamoye..Can the Power turn back the clock,id like to think so,but Sexton is far the fresher at that stage of there careers..
Should be a cracker though :TU: Come on Martin :bag:

Martin had a lot of hard fights earlier in his career. Think the break might possibly have done him good. Either way I think it has the makings of a great small hall bill topper and it will make sense for everyone involved. For the record, I know both lads well and they're two of gutsiest guys around as well as good fellas.

I don't necessarily agree it will be last chance saloon, I guess we'll just see how it goes.

I loved this fight when first mooted. I don't know how Martin is looking now after a layoff, whereas Sexton has been relatively busy.

Regardless, Martin, you're a fornicating legend, son. I love your style - you're a true warrior and made an instant fan of me.

How do you know :o

Think we might had another Warrior here :box:
I haven't fought for a year, my last fight I didn't stopped did i? Both Edwards did afterwards.. I was stopped by Hall which imo at the time in the 10th round it was a Bad stoppage wasn't put down etc. Hall Is massive at 8/6lb and would take Sexton apart.. I need a couple of Fights before i even thing of fighting Ashley, i can do a Lot of Tickets and so can Ashley if the Money is shit then i wont be fighting. Me and Ashley did have a bit of needle he was saying and writing silly things that i found very Disrespectful. I aint on Facebook or Twitter so i had people coming up to saying he's wrote this and he wrote, is it true what happened i sparring against him etc I know he knows my trainer and his trainer knows what happened simple... when i saw him i had it out with him and that was that.. If we Fight then Great coz it has the Ingredients for a good fight..

Get that tape measure out Micky and make sure that ring is big enough first! :-)

Would like to see Martin in a tune up before taking on Ash. If Martin is still on his game it would be a cracking scrap.

Be good to see a few helleaiser shows with both fighters on the card & it should warm up for a good crowd.
To say powers resistance is gone is completely false & stupid he may not get out the way & gets caught alot easier but is tough as they come & can be a dirty little bastard :OhYes:
