Fighters Who Were Matched Tough Their Whole Career.
I was having a look at Steve Little's record and it struck me that he didn't have many easy fights.

Toney fought quite a few mediocre fighters during his career.
I assume we aren't talking about anyone before the 1980s? Most great fightesr before then fought better competition than the people we are talking about.

JCC fought a lot of mediocre fighters, too. So did Duran. Toney was matched tough rather early, winning a title at 22 and having fought some quality comp before then.Ambling Alp II wrote:Toney fought quite a few mediocre fighters during his career.

So did Duran. Holyfield also had fights that were rather easy and some seemingly easy ones going in that didn't turn out that way (Cooper, Bean).keithmoonhangover wrote:Toney had easy fights even when he was champion.Rover wrote:JCC fought a lot of mediocre fighters, too. Fritzie Zivic (Conn, Burley x3, Armstrong x3, Jack x2, Montgomery, LaMotta x4, Jenkins x2, Angott, SRR x2)
Most of the old-timers had punishing schedules against top-level guys, interspersed with fights against guys with losing records tho, I guess.

The greats Kid Gavilan, Jimmy McLarnin, Tony Canzoneri and Luis Manuel Rodriguez. They fought great opposition all the time. Well, most of the time.

My point is that no one I can think of had no easy fights. Or don't you consider Holy to have been matched tough his whole career?
