Porky and Lester on SEN

Post by Grant »

I must admit that I miss the boxing show on Deadly radio. But tonight on SEN I LISTENED TO TWO GREAT interviews with Graeme Brooks and Lester Ellis. Lester gave some thoughts on Jack Rennies training methods which were interesting, both sound like really nice guys. I remember I saw Graeme at the last Susie Q fight, really nice guy. The interviews might b on the SEN Web site.

He said that Porky was the most talented fighter of them all, himself included. And that Jack was a great believer in sparring. Brooks in particular would regularly spar 15 rounds 5 against Barry 5 against Harry Hayes and then against Lester and that by the time he turned 21or 22 he was shot. Not sure whether it was as simple as all that though. I grew that Porky was super talented but I read an article by Barry Michael when he was managing him that Porky once in Enhland had to drop a huge amount of weight after bingeing.
Having said that Graeme seems like a terrific bloke content with his life. He still loves the fight game
