Haven't a clue, one for hhascup and bundana I thinkRover wrote:I lost my first title shot on one continent.

I successfully defended it once on a third continent.

Re: Trivia: Who am I?
Assuming the last question is correct I will try another. We still have hhascup's two questions to answer as well I think.
I had over 70 fights.
I never got a title shot.
I came close to causing a major upset over an ATG
i stopped boxing before the age of 25

The titles were world titles (more of a clarification), and one of the fights involved an IBHOF inductee.Controversial wrote:Another clueRover wrote:Should I tell?

Two easy ones for Rover.
1. Which fighter was the first to wear a gum shield?
2. Which fighter lost to Jack Johnson and John Wayne?

James Corbett was the first to wear a gum shield I believe. Don't know about the 2nd question.keithmoonhangover wrote:Two easy ones for Rover.

That's my answer, but I'd love to hear more about Corbett. Anyone shed any light on that?hhascup wrote:1. Which fighter was the first to wear a gum shield?

It's a bit of an obscure one, but surely could apply to more than one boxer?Controversial wrote:Don't look like anyone is getting this.

I have been doing a lot of research on a new book and also checking out another one, so I didn't have the time to check it out!Don't look like anyone is getting this.

I don't know, if he's the one you're looking for... but I believe Rolando Navarrete fits the profile.Rover wrote:I lost my first title shot on one continent.

Re: Trivia: Who am I?
That's who I was thinking about But some sources say that Puerto Rico is an island nation (an unincorporated territory) in the Carribean Sea. This sets it geography apart from that of any continent, and it is not considered a part of one. Just as the island nation of Cuba is not considered a part of North America (or any other continent), so is Puerto Rico not considered a part of any continent.Bundana wrote:I don't know, if he's the one you're looking for... but I believe Rolando Navarrete fits the profile.Rover wrote:I lost my first title shot on one continent.

Others have Puerto Rico is both physically and politically a part of North America. It is a Caribbean Island, however, these islands are grouped with North America. It is also a part of the US, so it is politically a part of North America.
So it would depend if you count PR or not, But that is the only one I can come up with too. If Bundana also has that I would think that is the answer your looking for.

You might have missed my earlier question hhascup, just wondered how you came up with the names to my earlier question, good stuff !!!Controversial wrote:What was your process in answering this hhascup if you don't keep notes, it amazes me? I fought 4 world title challengers and 2 world champions, losing to them all.
One opponent, often credited with having one of the greatest chins in his division, named me as one of the hardest punchers he ever fought.
I only won 2 fights by stoppage.

Sorry I have been doing a lot of research on several things, including 2 new books that the authors want me to fact check. One is about Joe Jeannette and another one is out already But they want me to check it out anyway. That book is called the THE ALL-TIME WORLD BOXING REFERENCE BOOK by Herb Goldman. Both books had many mistakes!
I have a list of fighters that have very few KO's, but between boxrec and google you can across check just about everything. The only thing is that boxrec and other sources aren't 100% accurate, so you have to use other sources just to make sure.
