David Haye looks set to return July 6th!!!!!
Yeah looks like he could be set to return on July 6th, only not against a Clit!
Any early predictions?
I'm going with Jonathan Banks, after he beats Seth Mitchell!

Povetkin. Puts him in line for the Klitschko's by Christmas.
Re: David Haye looks set to return July 6th!!!!!
I'm surprised he's come back to fight anybody who isn't a Klit.
His acting career can't be going well.

He would not knock out Wlad. He tried that before and came nowhere near.mullenman wrote:great news,

Re: David Haye looks set to return July 6th!!!!!
He was too cautious against Wlad, throwing so few punches he was never going to beat Wlad at his own tedious game. You have to be more aggressive, like Sanders and Brewster. Of course, Sanders took the return fire and Brewster too fought through some heavy leather. So did Puritty.
For Haye to kayo Wlad he would probably have to come off the canvas a few times, and as we saw he didn't really want to look foolish after all his big talk and risk a kayo loss (but his resulting performance made him appear very foolish indeed)
All of this very easy for me to type from my laptop, I fully accept.

It'll be Povetkin or Thompson.
Re: David Haye looks set to return July 6th!!!!!
he's not big enough to beat Wlad, IMO.
Like to see Haye/Povetkin tho.

He's the same size as Purrity, Sanders and Brewster and hits harder than all 3Mensa07 wrote:he's not big enough to beat Wlad, IMO.

And Wlad was a lot more attacking in those days, so more likely to get hit.
All the Haye fanboy's will think the fight is a forgone conclusion though!

GOOd to hear haye is returning as he is such a talented fighter.
Re: David Haye looks set to return July 6th!!!!!
he's not. I mean, in terms of height he probably is around their size, but in terms of weight and frame Brewster and Sanders are more 'natural' modern heavyweights. I haven't checked but I reckon those two carried about 230lb-240lb easily, with no 'extra' bulking to slow them down. Haye fights at what, around 210lb? you could see the difference in the fight, Haye couldn't muscle Wlad around or even get close enough to him to try.danconnollyeire wrote:He's the same size as Purrity, Sanders and Brewster and hits harder than all 3Mensa07 wrote:he's not big enough to beat Wlad, IMO.

Re: David Haye looks set to return July 6th!!!!!
Exactly, he fights totally differently these days and is all about maintaining the distance between himself and the other guy. He uses the jab to keep them off balance and stop them attacking and when he thinks they're tired, disheartened and unlikely to throw anything back, he starts throwing in some right hands and left hooks. In his two quick losses, he went balls to the wall and was throwing lots of right hands and left hooks from the first bell, which a. made him defensively poor b. made him tired c. relied on the fact that someone could be overpowered in 2-3 rounds.thepocketrocket wrote:And Wlad was a lot more attacking in those days, so more likely to get hit.

Of late he's started to be mildly more offensively minded early on but he is still rigid about maintaining that distance and jabbing them to death until he's sure he can drop them for good.
If you look at the first Sam Peter fight, it's almost the perfect transition fight between "old" Wlad and "new" Wlad, where he tried to keep that distance but 3-4 times in the fight lapsed and let Peter in, and got dropped or hit heavily as a result.

I'd prefer to see Haye fighting a lot more regularly than he has been for the last two years.

Exactly. Because the rounds Wlad was winning he was dominating. And today he still is.orbtastic wrote:Exactly, he fights totally differently these days and is all about maintaining the distance between himself and the other guy. If Haye was capable of getting inside he would have. Like all Wlad opponents, he has these great plans, and when he gets there it means nothing, as that jab is so much faster that people think
Re: David Haye looks set to return July 6th!!!!!
I think he has the speed of foot and hand to make it interesting but all that broken toe nonsense and excuses about not being able to "push off" seemed to be him mitigating a pretty miserable performance.
We'll see.
I'd personally like to see him against Vitali (not necessarily suggesting he's "earned" it) - He's older, slower, more robotic and slightly less fluid than Wlad but of course he has that incredible chin that Wlad just doesn't have. He also has that weirdly effectively herky jerky defence where he pulls his head back out of range which makes it a different puzzle for someone like Haye to solve.

People got carried away with...'ooh, David just needs to get to Wlad's chin and he win'. Yep, easier said than done.
Solis gave the blueprint on hos to beat Vitali (before his injury). Vitali won't have got any faster since then.

I would love to think so, as I'm a big Haye fan, but Vitali has a rock of a chin, hits harder than Wlad and is more agressive. Haye needs to pretend he Sugar Ray Leonard and steal rounds.Mensa07 wrote:agreed, he'd have more success against Vitali IMO.

No he doesn't. He may have the higher KO%, but Wlad possesses the greater one punch power.keithmoonhangover wrote:I would love to think so, as I'm a big Haye fan, but Vitali has a rock of a chin, hits harder than Wlad and is more agressive. Agree with everything else though.
Anyway, Haye. Fingers crossed it's Povetkin, although I doubt it will be.

Why not have a British heavyweight attraction, between the winner of Fury/Cunningham versus David Haye on July 6th.
