sky sports card 20th April
sky sports card 20th April
I do like eddie Hearn and respect what he is trying to do for his stable of fights but the card schedualed for sky sports on the 20th april is just not acceptable as a paying skysports subscriber (only reason i have sky sports is for the boxing)
10x3 light middleweight Brian Rose 22(6)-1(1)-1
SC Joachim Alcine 33(19)-3(3)-1
10x3 light welterweight Scott Cardle 9(2)-0-0
SC Maxi Hughes 8-0-1
super middleweight Callum Smith 3(1)-0-0
SC TBA
bantamweight Khalid Yafai 7(6)-0-0
light welterweight Thomas Stalker 1-0-0
featherweight Lee Selby 14(5)-1-0
i think this is shaping up as the worst card in sky sports history
sort is out Eddie Hearn and Adam smith

Don't watch it then watch the Nathan Cleverly show followed by the Trout v Canelo show on BN

Re: sky sports card 20th April
Cardle-Hughes is a very good fight. Hearn seems to be producing more off-tv undercard 50-50 fights than main events.
Re: sky sports card 20th April
Clarke V askin english title on it too.
Re: sky sports card 20th April
and Lee Selby?
Re: sky sports card 20th April
The last FWP card broadcast on sky was Jamie Cox v Obadai Sai.
It was a shit fight on paper and a worse fight in reality.
The 20th April card is competitive, mildly deep for a domestic show and will showcase some decent prospects.

That was Franks annual Debra charity show so I don't think the emphasis was on a T.V show rather than making money for a great cause

Liverpool's John Quigley also fighting on this bill.
Re: sky sports card 20th April
Indeed, but it was still a worse card than the 20th April one, and thus demonstrates that it is not the worst in sky sports broadcast history. Other recent cards worthy of a mention include Vassell v Colomban, Martin Murray v nick Blackwell, John Murray v karim el ouazghari, frankie Gavin v Michael lomax and Ricky burns v laryea (for a world title!)@markmcgee87 wrote:earsjohn wrote:The last FWP card broadcast on sky was Jamie Cox v Obadai Sai.

Re: sky sports card 20th April
Give it a chance mate the chief support fight hasn`t been announced yet but it will involve Selby who is quality. Are you having a laugh by saying it`s the worst card ever or just trolling the old FFN format with somebody like Cleverly v an Afrobum was truly shocking as the only one live vfight then some taped stuff after. My memory might be failing but wasn`t Cleverly-Boyle a main event fight once on FFN i know Cleverly- Fry was and fights like Broadhurst-Haskins.The main event is a decent step up for Rose.mullenman wrote:I do like eddie Hearn and respect what he is trying to do for his stable of fights but the card schedualed for sky sports on the 20th april is just not acceptable as a paying skysports subscriber (only reason i have sky sports is for the boxing)

There are countless shows that have been awful that Matchroom,Maloney,Warren,Hatton and Mick have promoted, Eddie himself said he's embarrassed by some of the Matchroom shows before Prizefighter

Wouldn't say he had a agenda the main event is Rose against a faded world name who got done in a round by Macklin and drew with 14/9/0 Jose Medina in the middle of that he beat Lemieux by majority decision a result which would of meant more had he not been coming off a stoppage result to Rubio although its still a good win

Re: sky sports card 20th April
Is it really a worse event than Billy Joe Saunders v Matthew Hall?@markmcgee87 wrote:Wouldn't say he had a agenda the main event is Rose against a faded world name who got done in a round by Macklin and drew with 14/9/0 Jose Medina in the middle of that he beat Lemieux by majority decision a result which would of meant more had he not been coming off a stoppage result to Rubio although its still a good win
BJS is against a faded British name from a division (or two) below, he is 3-5 over the last 4 years and 2 of his wins have come over journeymen...
A victory over Lemieux is a hell of a lot better than one over Kris Carslaw.

Here we go again.
Get over your allegiences and accept that all Promotors piss in the same pot.
Sometimes we get good, sometimes we get bad, and often we get the indifferent.

When has anyone mentioned the BJS v Hall fight, and for the record there are far more better suited opponents for Saunders than Hall who wasn't the 1st choice an offer was made for Mcewan who rejected it for what ever reason probably money/options

Re: sky sports card 20th April
Merely pointing out that Frank's NEXT card has a garbage main event. It's all well and good going "A has a poor card" but lets not forget that his main rival also how an awful card.@markmcgee87 wrote:When has anyone mentioned the BJS v Hall fight, and for the record there are far more better suited opponents for Saunders than Hall who wasn't the 1st choice an offer was made for Mcewan who rejected it for what ever reason probably money/optionsiamasadlittleboy wrote:Is it really a worse event than Billy Joe Saunders v Matthew Hall?@markmcgee87 wrote:Wouldn't say he had a agenda the main event is Rose against a faded world name who got done in a round by Macklin and drew with 14/9/0 Jose Medina in the middle of that he beat Lemieux by majority decision a result which would of meant more had he not been coming off a stoppage result to Rubio although its still a good win

Hall not being the first choice hasn't prevented that bout from being made. If people are turning it down then Warren needs to stop offering shitty deals.

Re: sky sports card 20th April
you missed out Selby's british title fight and Clarke v Aksin for the english.
Re: sky sports card 20th April
Yeah but seeing how Eddie has more resources, better fighters and a bigger platform shouldn't it be a given that he is putting on bigger and better shows?
Re: sky sports card 20th April
I was not talking about frank warrens cards at all
just saying as a sky sports subscriber i feel that this card is very week and think matchroom needs to bump it up a bit

Re: sky sports card 20th April
The fact he IS putting on better shows, as shown by his NEXT show being a VERY good one. Not EVERY show will be good, but it's a bit silly to be picking on his shows for being poor when the guy next to him is putting out even bigger turds.@markmcgee87 wrote:Yeah but seeing how Eddie has more resources, better fighters and a bigger platform shouldn't it be a given that he is putting on bigger and better shows?
You're talking about a weak card on Sky, as a subscriber you also need to accept that the one at the end of this month is VERY good. Picking a weak card whilst ignoring a very good seems to be pretty silly.mullenman wrote:I was not talking about frank warrens cards at all

Re: sky sports card 20th April
But in your op you missed that Selby will be defending his british title on this card and also Askin-Clark and to state that it`s the worst card ever which is just silly. It could be a decent domestic card,if Rose wasn`t slated to be in a decent step up you might have a point in stating that this card looks weak but he is and you have jumped the gun on this one if Selby is in a good fight it`s a solid card which could pleaently suprise some people.mullenman wrote:I was not talking about frank warrens cards at all

Re: sky sports card 20th April
I think the guy defintaly has jumped the gun on this card i think it could be quite decent and to say it`s the worst card ever you have have an agenda or really have never followed the sport on Sky,sure Alcine is a fadded name but it`s a step above domestic level for Rose and will be interesting to see how he handles it.This card could depend on how good Selbys opponent will be.@markmcgee87 wrote:ashedward wrote:Nope,it`s against the thread starters agenda to say thatiamasadlittleboy wrote:Can I just say that March 30th card is looking amazing?
