Re: What was Al's funding announcement?
I've been keen to learn what this was, and as far as I can see the announcement's been put back to Monday. Thought he might have unveiled it in his newspaper column today, but he hasn't. I am guessing its a tie-up with BT and news of creating a 2nd channel in HD for the live events, with the standard "repeat" stuff remaining in non-HD format.

Re: What was Al's funding announcement?
I reckon short term a deal with Goldenboy UK medium term a sell out to Vision.
Re: What was Al's funding announcement?
BT have either bought a stake in the channel or will be buying a stake in the channel over the next 4 months. This will allow them to offer the channel as part of their new sports package from this summer. Simon Green the head of BT Sport is still a non-exec Director at allegedly. The Independant ran a story 8 weeks ago which suggested BT had an interest in the channel.
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/g...g-8449350.html
Nothing confirmed yet however if BT have agreed a deal and include the channel as part of their sports package along with new channels BT Sports 1, BT Sports 2 and ESPN America that will make them a really big player in the UK sports TV market. BT want to push SKY and a deal with allegedly would help them achieve this. It is expected that BT, similar to how Virgin currently offer ESPN free to XL customers, will offer a free sports package come this summer to customers taking their top TV, Broadband and phone deals.
allegedly would still be available on SKY and Virgin. Only BT would be able to offer the channel free on some packages.

More likely the contracts going to BT than a sell out.Parson Cross wrote:I reckon short term a deal with Goldenboy UK medium term a sell out to Vision.

Re: What was Al's funding announcement?
Whatever was being announced has been postponed and the backers have changed their mind due to a car crash, the plane fare not being sent and a Doctor's note with a "legitimate" illness.
Allegedly has commenced proceedings and the Solicitors letters is in the post.
Deja vu

Not too long. Just kept an eye on Twitter, Facebook and Google since Warren mentioned funding last week.leforge wrote:How much time did you spend finding that out?chad wrote:http://www.hl.co.uk/shares/aim-and-s...Allegedly channel

For anyone who wants more information, here is the home site for Media Corp:

Richard Brooke, Chairman of allegedly said:
"This is a major step forward for allegedly as Media Corp have a strong casino and sportsbook platform and we are pleased to be part of this enterprise. We believe this is something our customers will enjoy and it can grow to be a significant part of our offering."
I am not a gambling man however I can see how this would appeal to subscribers of the channel who like a punt. I would not be surprised at all if something get integrated with the allegedly app which was recently released.

Are the gaming company paying allegedly a levy so they can exclusively utilize their wares on the channel? Sounds just a bit like advertising to me as opposed to funding.

What, like BetFair on SKY/Matchroom?

Re: What was Al's funding announcement?
Not sure. It looks like they plan to intergrate the option to gamble via a "red button" type service on BN. They say they are intergrating a sports book on the BN website too so it looks a bit more hands on than just advertising.orbtastic wrote:What, like BetFair on SKY/Matchroom?

I wonder how much they have in common after, Media Corp and Purple Lounge are like Warren and Sports Network.
