Andy Whittle & His Boxing News Rankings

Post by Boxingcutsman »

Very shocked to see this weeks Cruiserweight top 10 rankings in Boxing News and find my fighter Chris Keane is not in them.
Obviously we assumed it was a mistake and E-mailed them to say, the response we got was laughable.
Mr.Andy Whittle who put the list together reply was that has far has he is concerned Chris Keane HAS NOT fought anybody to deserve to be in the top 10
So beating a recently former British Champion is a nobody ?
What makes it even stranger is that he has put : China Clarke, Stephen Simmons, Nathan Owens and Paul David in the top 10 to name a few.
Non of which have fought opposition has good has Chris has and even more comical is that Paul David is a Super Middleweight who has never even won a fight at Cruiserweight.
Great job Mr.Whittle :TU:

Your right he should be in the top 10, it's not so much he beat Shane but the manner in which he did it :TU:

Should be top 5 based on what he's achieved so far at British level.

Thanks Gomez, yh without being biased looking at the division we think this is more realistic for Top 5:

1: Jon Lewis-Dickinson
2: Neil Dawson
3: China Clarke
4: Chris Keane
5: Tony Conquest

So for Mr.Whittle to say he doesn't even make top 10 is nothing short of a farce. He needs to explain in more detail his reasoning. IMO if he truly believes his right in his findings then he is obviously in the wrong job and needs to reconsider his career path because he obviously knows FU#K All about boxing.

I agree China Clarke should be in rankings but to say Andy Whittle should be in another job is nothing short of an insult.

The man is an absolute credit to the sport of boxing and just because he has dropped the ball on this issue, his whole outlook on the sport shouldn't be challenged.

What's a insult Chris is for him to stand by what he wrote and saying he thinks Paul David who is a SM and never won a fight at Cruiserweight deserves to be in top 10 but a young boxer who breaks his balls training, dieting, & working hard for the last 4 years has a pro with no backing or sponsors doesn't deserve to be, even though he his unbeaten, a Area Champion and has always delivered in style in his fights. Plus I didn't say he should be in another job, I said he's in the wrong job IMO if he truly believes that & needs to reconsider his career path :TU: if he had replied and said it was a Simple mistake then so be it, totally understandable but I think you will struggle to find anyone in boxing or a boxing fan to agree with him on this.

I dont rate McPhillbin but cant take away the fact that he was british Champion, but Keanes win against him is far better than what Price,Owens(who is he)David&Simmons has faced or beat in there pro careers...Mr Whittle has made a boo boo here&should hold his hands up&admit it...

X2 Andy is an absolute credit to the sport ratings are always the subject of much debate so give the guy a break remember he has all boxers in the Uk to rate Boxing Cutsman you only consider yours also whatever order he puts them in will always upset somebody but I do tend to agree that Keane should be higher and definitely top ten

Hes a good writer, but made a mistake here&should hold his hands up,when replied to email...No justifacation in rating the 7-10 slots instead of Keane...Personally id have Keane higher than them positions but thats not the debate

If Andy doenst think he's top ten then that's up to him. It's just his opinion that's all. Andy is a straight guy and is passionate about professional boxing, if you cut him in half he would have boxing written through his middle so I don't think there is anything unjust going on and I'm sure he can justify his reasoning. I think Chris is top ten but exactly where is hard to say as we have a crop of largely untested (against each other) lads who all seem about the same level at the moment. It's a hard divison to rank domestically.

So how can you justify him rating number 7-10 above Keane when they havnt boxed anyone with a pulse??

He should be in the top 10, no question.

Not having Keane in the top 10 in the British cruiserweight rankings is worse than having Broner in a world's P4P top 10 list.

Second that. The Whittler - and those like him - are the lifeblood of the sport in this country. Has a regular job and does a stack of boxing work in his spare time, often for free or a pittance. Fair enough to criticise his decision here but his character should not be questioned.

I agree with Danny, Ian and Chris above. Andy Whittle is a real credit to British Boxing and works tirelessly for next to nothing purely because he loves the sport. We all occasionally have opinions which are controversial and we are entitled to them. Furthermore, we all make errors of judgment. So if you disagree with him then that's fair enough but to say he knows 'f*** all about boxing' then you are sadly wrong .... In fact I'm fairly confident that Andy knows more about boxing than 99% of the people on this site.

I would put Chris Keane in the top 10 but that's merely my opinion.
