George Groves ringwalk time this evening
I've heard he might be fighting as early as 17:30.
Anybody got any precise details/times?
Cheers

Not the exact time, but 17.30 british time could be right.

Re: George Groves ringwalk time this evening
Looks a very good short notice job for Groves, never heard of the German before, ex kick boxer apparently, looks crude but tough - had 50 odd fights w/ 37 wins.
Weird feeling for Groves you'd think, misses out on that WBO fight, and now finds himself right down the bill instead, and maybe at the back of the line.
Brilliant prospect if his chin proves ok, but Abraham is a fight they might want to avoid.

Groves would beat Abraham handily IMOMightyWarrior wrote:Looks a very good short notice job for Groves, never heard of the German before, ex kick boxer apparently, looks crude but tough - had 50 odd fights w/ 37 wins.

If it's a boxing match then Groves should win, but Abraham can take big punches and has got a proper dig himself. He's dangerous in the last 30 seconds of the round. It's an interesting fight, for me.ThereByTheGrace wrote:Groves would beat Abraham handily IMO

I assumed this was off with Groves joining Matchroom?
Are they serious that they wanted him back in the ring in a fortnight or is this just bluff to cover up the fact they don't want legal action from Warren and to fulfil his final obligations?

Very risky fight for Groves, AA is very crafty, has an iron chin and can punch just as hard as Groves.ThereByTheGrace wrote:Groves would beat Abraham handily IMOMightyWarrior wrote:Looks a very good short notice job for Groves, never heard of the German before, ex kick boxer apparently, looks crude but tough - had 50 odd fights w/ 37 wins.

He's likely to catch Groves at some point over 12, and George doesn't seem to have a great chin. He'll hurt him, and Groves tends to open up when hurt, and I think a ruthless finisher like Abrahams would probably take him out.
AA would be ( slight ) favorite with the bookies. That said, I think George would beat Stieglitz.
Re: George Groves ringwalk time this evening
He definietly can take big punches alright! I remember the first fight he had with Miranda where he fought for 8 odd rounds with a broken jaw and blood pissing out of his mouth! It was savage.Dan Dares wrote:If it's a boxing match then Groves should win, but Abraham can take big punches and has got a proper dig himself. He's dangerous in the last 30 seconds of the round. I think Abraham hits harder than Groves. I think Abraham might be the biggest puncher in the division to be honest.MightyWarrior wrote:Very risky fight for Groves, AA is very crafty, has an iron chin and can punch just as hard as Groves.ThereByTheGrace wrote:Groves would beat Abraham handily IMOMightyWarrior wrote:Looks a very good short notice job for Groves, never heard of the German before, ex kick boxer apparently, looks crude but tough - had 50 odd fights w/ 37 wins.

Groves looked 2 weight classes above him.
Have to say, Booth sounds like a new age guru in there.
"The way you're poised...and comfortable in there ? Yeah ? It's perfect."
His other advice to Groves last time was to stare him in the eyes and say "Imagination with discipline" - There's no answer to that one.

Decent keep-busy beating handed down by Groves.
It'll be interesting to see who he faces on the Froch/Kessler undercard.

Good to see Groves travelling to Germany for a keep busy fight. Should be ring rust free now.
Hopefully a decent opponent in May. Seriously think that a young, hungry Groves will win a version of the world title.

Re: George Groves ringwalk time this evening
Sprott fighting Helenius in a bit, Gerber on now. Pretty good bill this.

Great bunce-isms on womens boxing. Saying he loves it but then dropping in such comments as "womens boxing has got its knockers" .... "I like it now, but it used to be about women fighting ex strippers and awlll that" .. "If you want a 25 min break take it now" - i was thinking it, but prob wouldnt say it, live on tv.

I would have thought so,former European Light Middleweight champion Lukas Konecny(he beat Mattew Hall to win vacant belt on Bunnys Magnificant 7 show a few year back) is fighting also, think its his first fight since WBO title shot points defeat against Zaurbek BaysangurovWales wrote:I have switched off, on his advice, for 25 mins. Re: George Groves ringwalk time this evening
The ammount of time i spent on baysangurov during his anticipated fight with moorsey in dec 07 was unreal, only for the tosser to pull out. Jamies career wouldve taken different path had baysangurov not suffered an injury in sparring, although jamie was carrying an injury into the fight so he wouldve been up against it from outset.
Re: George Groves ringwalk time this evening

Re: George Groves ringwalk time this evening

Dear God, Steve Lillis is painful to listen to. The man is not suitable to have speaking on screen.
