stop whining and make sure your boy gets in next time. as far as im aware BN ratings are just a guide without any sway or power at the board, so what's the big deal?

as for andy, top geezer who knows more about boxing than the vast majority of people on here and has dedicated his life to it.

maybe he thought keane was a Mexican roadsweeper kind of guy :bag:

Andy is a legend. If he packed in most people in British boxing would be worse off in terms of info.
Second that. The Whittler - and those like him - are the lifeblood of the sport in this country. Has a regular job and does a stack of boxing work in his spare time, often for free or a pittance. Fair enough to criticise his decision here but his character should not be questioned.
Danny, sorry to take things off topic, but has Fighting Fit ceased publishing? Will be gutted if that's the case...

Listen, firstly Whittles character is not in question, secondly no one said Altaf that he doesn't know fuk all about boxing, what I said was if he truly believes what he wrote then he must know fuk all about boxing. Obviously you are all misreading what was wrote and interpretating it how you like because your fond of the guy, that's fair enough, he proberly is a nice fella but on this occasion his rankings are a load of shit, FACT. He replied to the E-mail and stood by putting a SM losing fighter in the top 10 over Chris and he has never even won at Cruiserweight, so for me that says it all. Plus for you fools who said Chris hasn't fought anybody with a pulse yet, look at who he has fought and look at the others in the division and you will see he has fought tougher opposition. And has for he works hard, long hours for free, and his great knowledge of the sport, boo woo, what the fuk do you think us trainers and boxers do 7 days a week, traveling the country, spending our own money etc ? All for some writter to over look your hard work. Bottom line he fuked up here and should of just admitted it, what ever kind of a person or job he does.

Putting it in capitals doesn't make it a fact. Rankings aren't fact, that's why people argue about them! Anyway, it's easily solved by your lad doing the business in the future.

As I've said, your boy should be in the top ten but ratings are subjective and I'm certain Andy has his reasons.

Next time your boy is fighting on a small hall undercard somewhere and there's not a journalist or writer in the world who gives a shit about it, spare a small thought for my good mate Andy who will DEFINITELY be there.

Youre doing a top job with Keane by the way. Long may your success continue.

your bang on mate although you may have been at bit more tactful with your words, but I'm one to speak I suppose.
People on forums don't see half of what a boxer/ coach goes through, money and time spent on sparring, the last time i went in a petrol station they weren't giving fuel out for nothing.
I genuinely feel it's a mistake on the writers behave because clearly even if Chris has beaten x amount of journeymen he's still beat a ex British champ in very good style, better form than others mentioned in the top ten.

Fair comments Dondada & Chris, can't really argue with them. Obviously Andy is proberly a top guy but were very frustrated at this has you can imagine, we worked very hard for last 4 years and thought after giving that sort of display against a former Recent British Champion we would at last be heading in the right direction and maybe get the break or some credit but seems not. We will just keep on working has we have done and producing the goods then hopefully we will get the break and credit sooner or later.

I think that he is made a mistake there as Keane is easily top 5 in Britain. That was a good win against Mcphilben but it depends what he does in his next fight and who against.

It's not grammar...It's using the right words in the right context.

As to the question of rankings, Shane's trainer (?) posted only this week that we should ignore the performance against Keane for a number of reasons. I suspect that the same reasoning had something to do with Whittle's rankings?

Did Andy give you an explanation as to how the Boxing News Rankings work? Their ratings may not be influenced by personal opinions (like the Boxrec rankings). I would recommend that you speak to Andy directly (either via phone or at the next local show).

Prepare to be gutted I'm afraid mate. Issue 40 (Fury cover) was our last. Can't really go into all the reasons why but suffice to say the whole sector declined and while our competitors were satisfied with the reduced revenue our company is pretty large in comparison and prefers to focus its resources on more successful magazines. Some training content has been incorporated into Boxing News US edition and may also go into BN UK. Feel free to email me [email protected].

Is this their site? Where are the cruiserweight and heavyweight rankings?

They have McIntosh above Bellew at light heavyweight. A lot of their other rankings seem messed up as well. The rankings seem to be over a year out of date.

Well it generally helps if you want to taken seriously, particularly when criticising someone else on a public forum?

Now you both know a malapropism isn't something you go to the see the doctor for.
