It's being reported on the BBC news ticker that Audley Harrison is to face Danny Williams, with full details to be announced on Monday.

Are you sure it's Danny Williams and not a 300lb trucker from Texas called Williams with a 6-24 record.

Seriously though I'd really want to see this fight but I couldn't see Harrison and Warren being willing to work with each other.

Dare we believe?

To be honest, I really want this fight to go ahead, but at the same time I'd be very surprised if it did. Warren and Harrison couldn't work together before.

However, I would be deliriously happy if I'm proved wrong. It'd be a great fight for Audley as he desperately needs a step up. Danny doesn't have much other options after being dominated so fiercly by Klit, and now Skelton has no interest in it.

If this does happen, it'll be a good fight for both and British boxing that wins.

Roll back to July and Warren said he'd never work with Williams again, I honestly believe that Danny Williams was only brought up for Skelton because they were struggling to find a serious opponent.

I really hope this fight comes off.

Former British heavyweight champion Danny Williams is set to fight former Olympic champion Audley Harrison, promoter allegedly has announced.

Details will be formalised at a news conference in London on Monday.

Williams, 33, beat Mike Tyson last year before losing a world-title clash against WBC king Vitali Klitschko.

Harrison, also 33, won gold at Sydney 2000 and is undefeated in 19 pro fights but has been criticised for the quality of his opposition thus far.

Williams' future in the sport looked in doubt after he pulled out of a match with current British champion Matt Skelton at late notice in July.

Skelton turned down a rescheduled fight with Williams in December and will now face Kevin McBride, who beat Tyson this year, instead.

Williams v Harrison would be the biggest domestic heavyweight match-up since Lennox Lewis beat Frank Bruno in Cardiff in 1993.

My view is that it makes sense all round (not that that means anything in this mad sport).

Williams - it makes perfect sense for Danny as it's a high profile fight for him, he should be motivated for it (though I have my doubts he will ever be able to truly motivate himself again) and a win will see his stock rise.

Harrison - Big Aud can keep his dignity and return, seemingly, on his own terms to what is essentially a big fight. He can spin it that Skelton took another route to avoid Williams and, if he beats him, can justifiably call out Matt - and make a lot of money against a very limited opponent (skill wise) and cement a decent world ranking in the process. He'll also be able to say he cleaned up the British division, which he always said he would. Even if McBride beats Skelton (one for the purists

), Audley could take the winner on.

I think it will come off, though SN will have to handle it very sensitively in case Audley puts his big foot down and pisses off again. I suspect that won't happen this time as Big Aud has seen the reality of doing this. As a very senior journo said to me at the Skelton press conference "Who gives a fornicate about Robert Wiggins?"

It may well be the ITV coverage that helped get Warren and Audley talking.

Harrison needs the exposure in the UK as I'm sure that the casual boxing fans have completely forgotten about him.

A good fight for both audley & williams. A step up from wiggins and i can't see warren giving williams any decent fights from pulling out like he did.

I see this fight from happening is by far no a guarantee. I may be mistaken, but didn't Warren annouce Skelton vs Harrison before it happened?

an excellent match up for both fighters and at last we get to see two of the top british heavies in the ring together. This fight is very important for both fighters and will add more to the profile of the winner. About time these two met in the ring to see who's best. my pick is audley , although danny has skills to give him trouble.

Would be a good move for both fighters, although I see little chance of Williams winning it!

You watch the fickle British public rally behind Olympic hero Harrison when he does become our premier Heavyweight too

I reckon he has done the right thing taking his time, shit he's still only had 19, he's got a few years left in him as long as he makes clever choices.

Think he'd much rather Skelton lose though, I don't think anybody really wants that fight, not even Danny. He may talk big at the mo, but imagine his attitiude by the 4th round!

I'd rather have seen Skelton/Williams. I'd also rather think of Audley as having burned his bridges with the uk boxing scene. If he wins this, he'll just go on to prevaricate some more for a few years until he fades away. He's not worthy of our attention.

Yep makes sense for both. Danny's got nowhere to go, and from Aud's POV this is the type of fight he needs ASAP - a seemingly washed up contender who still holds a rating, but is coming off a severe shell hacking.

Still, Williams is a very live one here - let's hope A Force doesn't get cold feet......

I'm very happy that this fight seems to be going ahead, if it does happen my respect for Audley will increase - but Danny Williams is not the Jackpot in this poor devision.
