Trivia: Who am I?
Re: Trivia: Who am I?
Champion/world champion/title holder: Someone who, at some point during his career, held a world title recognized by BoxRec.
"25 consecutive years club": Boxers who have had at least 1 pro bout, in each of 25 consecutive calendar years.
Knockout: A fight that ends in a KO, TKO or RTD.
HOFer: Member of the IBHOF.
OK, here we go... 15 rounds for the championship:
Round 1: Who challenged, unsuccessfully, for world titles in 2 different decades - before finally being crowned champion in a 3rd decade?
Round 2: On the record of which boxer, can we find the most fights against world champions?
Round 3: I had 55 pro fights - of which 28 were against HOFers. Who am I?
Round 4: Name a former member of the exclusive club of retired (at least 5 years!) world champions, who won every fight they ever had.
Round 5: On a list of world champions with the most consecutive 1st-round ko wins, Edwin Valero is of course No 1 with 18(!) - but who is 2nd on such a list?
Controversial: Greg Page
Round 6: No champion had more fights than Jack Britton (last count: 346!) - but which 20th century world champ had the fewest pro bouts?
Round 7: Name the last/latest boxer to become a member of the "25 consecutive years club".
Controversial: Silvio Branco
Round 8: Which boxer(s) challenged for world titles in 3 different divisions - without ever becoming champion?
Round 9: Which NON-champion was once able to boast, that he was the youngest man who had fought for the heavyweight crown since Sullivan vs Corbett?
Round 10: I wasn't even born, when my brother made his pro debut - but many years later, we would appear on no less than 10 cards together. Who are we?
Round 11: Name 2 boxers, who after their first 100 paid bouts could proudly say, that they held a win over every opponent they had met in a pro ring.
Round 12: Who started his career with the longest streak of fights, without a single ko defeat?
Round 13: After portraying 2 HOF-champions in movies, I fought a real champion for the first time - in a real fight! Who am I?
Round 14: On which boxer's record can we find the longest streak of consecutive fights against heavyweight champions?
Round 15: McLarnin and Greb fought 15 HOFers, Moore fought 14, Langford met 13, at 12 we find... well, who are the men with 12 HOFers on their records?
wsbuf: Sugar Ray Robinson

Jack Britton?[/quote]
No, he was stopped in his 3rd fight of his career, so it's not him.

There a few that could join the club if they fight this year, including Roy Jones Jr.

Really, haha that was a pure guess as I was looking at his record the other night and noticed that sting of one rounds winshhascup wrote:YES!Controversial wrote:Greg Page?Bundana wrote: Round 5: On a list of world champions with the most consecutive 1st-round ko wins, Edwin Valero is of course No 1 with 18(!) - but who is 2nd on such a list?

The Shade brothers?
Re: Trivia: Who am I?
No - all 3 Shade brothers were born within 5 years of each other. So it can't be any of them.Controversial wrote:Bundana wrote: Round 10: I wasn't even born, when my brother made his pro debut - but many years later, we would appear on no less than 10 cards together. Who are we?

We're looking for 2 brothers born more than 20 years apart.

Re: Trivia: Who am I?
Neither one! At the time SRR had 100 bouts, he had 2 draws and didn't get to fight one of them until much later.Controversial wrote:Jimmy Wilde and SRR ?Bundana wrote:

Can't be Marciano, too obvious?Bundana wrote: Round 4: Name a former member of the exclusive club of retired (at least 5 years!) world champions, who won every fight they ever had.
Re: Trivia: Who am I?
That's confusing because of the word "former."Controversial wrote:Can't be Marciano, too obvious?Bundana wrote: Round 4: Name a former member of the exclusive club of retired (at least 5 years!) world champions, who won every fight they ever had.
Re: Trivia: Who am I?
"Former" means, that our man was once a member of this "club", but has lost his membership...Rover wrote:That's confusing because of the word "former."Controversial wrote:Can't be Marciano, too obvious?Bundana wrote: Round 4: Name a former member of the exclusive club of retired (at least 5 years!) world champions, who won every fight they ever had.
in other words, we're looking for a world champion who retired after having won every fight he ever had - only to make a comeback more than 5 years later, where he lost his perfect record.

Re: Trivia: Who am I?
No, you're not missing any. DLH met 24 different world champions - more than any other boxer!Rover wrote:Damn, he did have a lot:Controversial wrote:De La Hoya?Bundana wrote:

However, the question was who had the most fights against world champions.
DLH met both Chavez and Mosley twice, so he had a total of 26 fights against world champions - which is quite a bit short of the record.
Re: Trivia: Who am I?
Valger had (at the latest count!) 215 pro bouts withever ever being ko'd... which is good enough for 2nd place (behind Harry Stone with 219) on a list of boxers with the most fights without ever suffering a ko defeat.Controversial wrote:Benny Valgar?Bundana wrote: Round 12: Who started his career with the longest streak of fights, without a single ko defeat?
However, there was a guy who started his career with a longer streak than that, without being ko'd.
