Rockin Robin Blake vs Tyrone the Butterfly Crawley

Post by zuru »

Blake was undefeated on on a winning streak fighting in front of his hometown fans. The 6 ft southpaw had a good chin, good speed & power, and an unlimited future.Crawley the switch-hitting feather fist had lost once, and was supposed to be a sacrificial lamb for Blake in front of his hometown.Blake's only time to touch him was when the referee was giving instructions and they touched gloves.Crawley boxed brilliantly, scoring at will and winning a unanimous decision. After this fight,it went downhill for Blake, and I guess that was the peak for Crawley, because he never again dominated a fighter the caliber of Blake.

Blake was a good boxer but he was around when the Lightweight division was full of talent and he seemed to lose his way after a number of back to back defeats. Probably the case of too many hard fights too soon.
I think I read recently that Blake is a teacher now 8) , or Policeman? :x ... one or the other!... :box: :box:

Nice line Zuru. I never heard it before so I assume that you are the author of it. I say it deserves a spot in the classic boxing quotes thread.
